The NCAA is prepared to shift the Nov. 10 start date for college basketball if necessary, according to a statement released Monday by Dan Gavitt, senior vice president of basketball.

Correct. The NCAA isn't in control of major college football, ever since they created the FBS and P5, and took charge of their own TV deals and their own destiny.

And this is the exact reason why I think there will be a college basketball season this year. It may start late, but there will be a NCAA tournament no matter what. UConn men's assistant Tom Moore was quoted on a recent podcast as saying "there is no way we don't have a NCAA tournament this year, this is the only way the NCAA makes money".

Anyone else wondering what will happen if the NCAA gives the go ahead for some type of bball season and then a team (and then teams) or Conference (like the PAC-12) decides to cancel the 2020-2021season? I can imagine this happening...

What happens when a team doesn't have enough healthy players to play? Do they just forfeit the game? It's not like the pros where you can just call up players to backfill the roster on short notice. What happens if a team comes to Connecticut and is forced to quarantine for 14 days? How does that work?
