http://espn.go.com/mens-college-bas...self-coaches-torn-rule-changes-2013-14-season

the rules are similar to what is called in the NBA

1) more fouls called for hand checking and aggressive use of forearms and hands down low
2) more blocking fouls called instead of charges

type of player who will benefit:
1) athletic/quick players who can handle the ball and get a good first step on their defender
2) players who can shoot well from the free throw line
3) big men who can get down the court quick in transition and establish position down low because it will be tough for the defender to move him
4) well coached and disciplined teams who can block shots and get in passing lanes instead of having to take charges and bump defenders on the perimeter
*this pretty much describes what KO is trying to build. A 3 guard lineup with a bunch of long ball handlers who will get out in transition

type of player who will suffer:
2/3 of Duke's typical roster...

Dang, we need to keep this quiet before the NCAA realizes and changes that one up!

Good. Charging has become ridiculous lately. So tired of guys sliding underneath to draw a charge. If you are established than fine but the rest of this crap needs to be a blocking foul. Play defense!

Pitt ( scum) should mothball their basketball program. They r not going to make it with these rules in the ACC.

I would love to see the following for this year: "When a an offensive player puts up a shot, the first defensive player to yell 'mine' has the first right to a rebound and all offensive players must clear the lane."

It will become a foul shooting fest with whistles ad nauseam. At least for the first several months. Constant stoppage does not help the flow of the game. So I think Bill Self is correct. Defending the post as mentioned in the comments section also has merit. If a team has a strong interior presence and the rules are applied with consistency there will be a decided advantage for those teams. That is why a teams depth this year will be a determinative factor in their success. UConn is thin up front without Facey and Wolf departing (10 fouls there). Thin in the sense it is all relative to a program like UConn that strives to win championships.

Brimah will get his # called to deliver more minutes than originally expected. I am really looking forward to watching this kid and rooting for him. Samuel and Brimah will have to deliver very important minutes throughout the course of the season for UConn to make a big run. If you think they can you should be bullish on the Huskies.

If not then....bearish.

Changing the shot clock to 30 seconds is another necessary change that they voted down this year.
