In 2010 the BE received 23m from NCAA from earned credits, 2011 24.9M, 2012 27.6M. Using $250,000 for each credit, which is a conservative amount but close and it is easy for this calculation.

BE credits earned for 2013= 117. Credits are earned for each game you play in the NCAAA tournament with a max. of 5 credits earned by one team in a given year. Credits are paid out to the conference on a 6 year rolling period and are paid out one year in the rear. Thus 2013 payout is for credits earned in 2007-2012. The NCAA distributes these payouts each April.

Credits earned in 2007-2012 is as follows 13, 18, 24, 16, 22, and 24.

2013= 117 x 250,000=29.25M
2014= 104 = 26M , I dropped the 13 from 2007 but will need to add the credits earned from this year's tour.
2015=86= 21.5M
2016=62=15.5M
2017=46=11.5 M
2018=24=6M
Total currently owed to BE=109.75M

Note the NCAA distributes money only to the conference not to any team.

Also note When BC moved to the ACC they did not receive any distributions from the ACC until their third year at 50% and fourth year 100%. I would hope the BE has similar rules that apply to new members. Year one zero, year two zero, year three 50%, year four 100 %.

2013 distribution will be paid out by BE Bylaws to all 15 teams, 2014 should be only to UConn, Cincy , USF, Ville ND and Rutty in 2016 SB only UConn, Cincy and USF and 2017 the new teams should start to receive 50% this year.

In addition there is a min. of 60m in exit fees to be payout. The C-7 should be required to pay an exit fee if they leave early. I wouldN't give them ONE DIME extra and make them pay for the BE name and MSG.

For the life of me I hope Aresco and company don't bitch this somehow. There is enough money there to keep us, USF, and Cincinnati afloat a few years while conference realignment shakes out further. Possibly for the life of this six year Big East TV deal

Remember any credits earned this year will carry forward for the next 6 years and added to the above numbers. So. Even though we are not fans of Cuse and Pitts, They won't keep one dime of any money they earn this year in the tour. Also the same should apply to C-7 if Arecso handles this correctly.

The bylaws might already state that if either the football or basketball schools leave en masse, they get the NCAA credits owed to them. The only question then becomes, how much in credits do you want to leave behind in exchange for the name?

Got you, thanks. Admittedly this stuff is very fuzzy to me. Sounds like for a few years anyways, we should be Al right financially. Recruiting regionally against ACC and Big ten schools will be a differnt story, but at least were still in the game financially.

Well, as for recruiting, UConn regularly lost to UNC (except for Bynum) and Texas and Kansas. But UConn beat Maryland and NC State and Tennessee (except for Tobias Harris) and Illinois.

Do these schools overtake UConn now in recruiting? I'm not so sure.

I was thinking more football and RU and SU, I think basketball will be fine especially if we have a great run next year.

There are also a couple answers here: UConn regularly lost battles and seemed to grab guys like Sio Moore who didn't have many offers. And then, this year, on Feb 4th, after everything went down and it was clear that kids were committing to Uconn knowing they wouldn't play Rutgers, Cuse, Louisville, Pitt, they still came. We'll have to see, but it doesn't look good on football.

Quoting isn't commenting!

People must be busy today. Normally, that line would have been built upon for hours.
