This is not just any NCAA committee here - it's the Committee on Academic Performance. The single, most impactful thing that this committee ever did was institute the APR and the subsequent penalties for not meeting the APR. The Chairman of this committee has stated on the record that it would be more fair to use the most current data, but it would take a bit of work. This committee knows full well what the APR penalties have done to the Uconn program and, at the very least, has received a letter from members of Congress encouraging them to use the most current data.

So this Committee holds a 3 day conference, which I'm sure was a hoot of a time, and doesn't even bother to discuss using the most current data. Wasn't even on the agenda. And they met for three days. And they don't plan to meet again for three months.

I can't even....

At this point I am just as annoyed at the UConn administration for not suing. What is taking so f'in long! Does it even matter at this point? The year is pretty much lost because they took their sweet time! And Calhoun had better not leave now! His comments implying he is staying have basically closed the door on getting a decent replacement this offseason. No, I don't consider Ollie a good choice.

I can't help but get a sense that this is really getting personal with Emmert.

Has a member institution ever suded the NCAA? What remedies would we be seeking? There's no putting the toothpaste back in the tube at this point, so would we be looking for money? An apology? Any thoughts?

The NCAA is managing this pretty well. They hold out just enough a carrot to make us hold off on taking action against them. Meanwhile our program is going down the drain. We need to change the cost benefit of their approach. That means a congressional hearing that will force Emmert et al to talk about the inconsistancies in how punish is handed out and penalties are selectively applied or a lawsuit asking for either delay in the application of the penalty or the use of current APR figures. One or the other needs to happen and it needs to happen now.

I get the same impression about that carrot. And our inept administration fell for it. It is time to tell them to shove the carrot up ther and sue them. No, it won't "put the toothpase back in the tube" but that doesn't mean we shouldn't enact some revenge. Do it and do it NOW. Maybe, just maybe, we can convince some good players to transfer to UConn and convince Roscoe not to go. As for Alex, him. Let him have to sit out a year before he plays his final season in Missouri which is what he would have to do if we are now eligible for the post season. And, as part of the settlement, I would demand a one time waiver for any kid that wants to transfer to UConn to play next season. Then let's see who comes calling.......

Do you really think the NCAA will make him sit? Ha! I am 99.99% sure at this point that even if they ultimately allow us into the postseason, they will grant him a waiver since he transferred at a time when we were ineligible. How could anyone think otherwise at this point
