A successful assistant coaching record and a couple good years built off others' recruits, yet NC State fans may cite his very brief head coaching tenure, minimal recruiting experience as a head coach, no background in the ACC (or, targeted SEC?), no Mid-Atlantic/SE background, etc. should he fail to meet their lofty expectations. Future conference foe?
