Do we have a better chance to retain MSG for the new BE tournament with ESPN as our media partner?
Keeping MSG will be key to our recruiting NYC players.

East Carolina, Tulane, Houston,SMU, Memphis. That is half your league. Does that league deserve to play it's conference tournament at MSG? Add in UCF, USF AND CINCINNATI, and the XL starts making more sense or Mohegan sun.

From sitting at the BET, did you notice many fans from USF, DePaul, Marquette, WV, Rutgers, Providence? I know I didn't.

I watched the other teams games too (BET coincides with Spring Break for me) and the arena was empty when Pitt, UConn, Syracuse and G'town weren't there. St. John's and Seton Hall bring locals but only for their games. Providence and Villanova a smattering.

The question I have is, can UConn, Temple and Cincy do what Pitt, Syracuse and UConn did? And the answer is no. There would be fewer UConn fans likely, and Cincy could not replace Pitt. But I do think Temple would bring a lot of fans. They did for the Syracuse game at MSG.

I just don't think the few fans that the schools at the bottom would bring hurts the BET as much as the fewer fans that the top teams, including UConn, would bring.

I think those fans would be super excited for their first few BETs and come out, especially at MSG.

IMHO we will not be worrying about where the BE is playing anything in a couple of years. We will be gone.

I used to have mixed feelings about it and thought that we could/should be the new foundation they build the BE around. Once the BE gave UCONN the big and did not let us play in the last real BET EVER- a tourney that we helped build into what it is today- they can bite me.

Also I have to believe that every other team playing in the BET feels it will not be the same without us there- is it really the BET without us? No it is not- it is mostly a group of teams that are leaving and that have collectively- less NCs then we do over the last ten years.

WE ARE DOOMED!!!!!

I def. think the ESPN factor helps, but what is the language in the contract that MSG signed? They may be the ones making the decision, not the leagues themselves.

MSG doesn't care one way or the other. They're renting out the joint. You want it, pay up! It's the BE that will decide against holding it there because they can't sell enough tix to avoid the bloodbath. MSG's only concern is to give it to the group that it believes will rent it out regularly each year. It wants the business.

There are two factors to consider. If you expect your team to make a decent showing in the tournament and you are located a reasonable distance away you would consider making the trip. Providence Depaul etc. just have no chance to do well. If we play at MSG with lesser compeittion I expect UConn's fan attendance to stay pretty good. If we are invited to ACC or B1G I expect our attendance at their tourney to suffer. Although without a doubt I would welcome either invite I would not go to the tourny every year like I do now.
