Board has been quiet on the NBA. The Celtics Trade popped up on Chat last night, so figured we could use a thread to discuss trades and playoff positioning.

Evidently Brad Stevens pulled off a masterpiece. I already liked the Simons for Vuc trade, then this detail came out.

Mavs rebuild around Flagg, who has been incredible lately. In a very strong draft class this is a smart move. Mavs will be young and good very soon.

Busy couple of days

As a Knicks supporter (don't watch NBA until the college season ends), I really like their trade for Jose Alvarado. A bad-ass three-and-D backup point guard who is one of the toughest defensive point guards in the league. NYC kid too.

Bucks have really blown the last 12 months. Giannis' value is declining every month as he gets older and closer to the end of his contract. It would be catastrophic if he got hurt. The Bucks should also be running the offense through Miles Turner and Kyle Kuzma to try to generate any trade interest in those two. They have bad contracts, but not so terrible that they can't be moved if their stats improve. Most importantly, the Bucks should be tanking, hard. They have almost no valuable picks until 2032 or so, except for this year, where they pick swap with the Pelicans. Since the Pelicans are terrible, the Bucks will actually benefit from tanking this year.

So what did the Bucks do? 1) Made insane demands for Giannis, and failed to trade him. 2) Are highlighting cheap players Rollins and Porter, which will make them more expensive to keep. 3) The Bucks are bad, but not terrible, so they will end up with an 8 or 9 pick. Idiots.
