NBA Trade Rumor: Bobcats Talk Deal Of No. 2 Pick For Rudy Gay

Rudy is more valuable than this year's #2, which is a question mark. Charlotte shouldn't hesitate, but I suspect one of their guards will be thrown in with the number 2.

I hope neither Gay nor Drummond end up in Charlotte. they are a horrible team that has made horrible player decisions, and is going nowhere any time soon. I'd rather see Drummond land at Washington or Cleveland.

It's a joke that Rudy hasn't made an All-Star game. He deserved to the last 5 years...

Who out west would you put Rudy over?

I dunno - that's actually not a horrible team with Rudy in the fold.

A starting lineup of Kemba, Henderson, Rudy, Biyombo, and ____ (fill in the blank) might even contend for the last spot in the playoffs. Plus, Rudy is still really young and would fit right in with a team in the rebuilding process.

I agree, though, about not wanting Drummond (or Lamb) to end up in Charlotte. You just know he'd be a complete bust if he ended up there.

No, no, no. I don't think you understand just how bad that team is. No one player, other than LeBron James, is going to make that a playoff team in one year.

It would be a safe move for most teams in most years.

Gay, if healthy, guarantees the Bobcats a 20 ppg, 7 rpg scorer for the next 6-8 years. There isn't a single player in this draft that can be guaranteed to do that.

Ironic, MJ passed on Rudy and went with Adam Morrison. Rudy has admitted that that still bothers him.

What the bobcats should do is keep the number 2 pick this year, draft drummond, and then trade their next years first round pick for gay. so that way the bobcats can have kemba, gay, and drummond on the same team within one year. This way they can make a playoff run with those guys two years from now and the boneyarders will have a bbal team to cheer for from April through june. Win win situation for everyone

That would be really fun to watch. I like the scenario of the Bobcats ending up with Jeremy Lamb better, though. The Lamb and Kemba backcourt was as fun to watch as any backcourt in UConn history since Khalid/Rip. Those guys had a unique chemistry....and they built it in only one year.

But as much as I would love to see one of those scenarios as a UConn fan, if I'm the Bobcats, I'm probably just taking Kidd-Gilchrist, hoping Kemba and Biyambo improve, trading Augustine for a late first round pick, and taking my lumps again the following season.

The only way a team like the Bobcats can build a contender is through patience and luck. And unfortunately, they seem to have neither at this moment.

Who the heck let MJ become an executive? Kwame Brown, Adam Morrison.....

Agree, latest is MKG at #2, he'll b a bust in the league. No handle, no perimeter game, etc.

I somewhat think Davis will be a bust too, but think he'll work hard.

No one works harder than MKG, the kid is 100% effort with pretty decent talent. He will be in the league for a long time. All Rudy would do for them is get them a slightly worse draft pick next year, which does nothing for the future of the franchise.

But you need talent to be successful in the NBA. The number of guys who have had success in the league entirely based off of hard work and effort is very small.

Gilchrist could be a great piece to a good team which already has scoring talent, kinda like Kawhi Leonard with the Spurs. I don't think there is any way he should go # 2 but I also think there is no chance he is a complete flop.

I would like to see a guy like Gilchrist on the Knicks. Get rid of Amare and his contract and move Melo to the 4. Amare would make the Bobcats decent and it would be nice for Kemba to have some actual talent.

(Yes, I realize I just said MKG is not worth #2, and then proposed the Knicks trade up to get him. I think he is a good fit for them.)_

ok, but MKG is worth a HELL of a lot more with his contract than Amare is with his. Amare is borderline untradable with his knees and contract.

If they think AD can be the player that he has the natural talent to be, they should take him, suck again this year for another draft choice, and then they are onto something with a decently talented base.

Don't you have to ask why Memphis would make this deal? Is it because they did better in the playoffs without him than without him?
