NBA All-Rookie Teams: Castle 1st team, Clingan 2nd team

Edey beats Clingan this time. But part of what made Clingan more valuable in the draft is that in 2 years, Clingan will be the age that Edey is now

So excited to see what Steph and DC keep doing in the league. Also excited to watch Edey, Sarr, Carrington, and Ware. These guys are fun to watch

Edey is two years ahead of DC in development. Amazes me how no one mentions this. Its like during the F4 when people were talking about ZE being an all round better player than DC. Well yeah, no ! DC is a sophomore and Edey is a 4 year starter. What would DC be if he stayed at Uconn till 2026? He`d utterly destroy teams single handedly because hes a far superior defensive player. Cant wait to see how he develops down the road. I can see some DPOY awards in his future along with some All Star appearances.

Edey was much better than expected by most this past year. That said, compared to Clingan it remains the same thing. Do you value offense, or defense. Clingan absolutely shut down the paint (I wish they had a published stat on how often players turn around because of fear of being blocked). Edey is better offensively by a decent but not insurmountable amount.

Edey and Clingan both have played about the same number of years. Edey started playing when he was about 15 but had more college experience. Both great players and fun to watch. Hope they both have long careers.

Maybe I'm a better evaluator of college guys than thought. Never understood why Edey had no NBA props even after his junior year. Have similar thoughts on Kalkbrenner, should be more in demand. On the other side, still don't get why Sanogo can't get a legit shot.

A lot of it is about age. They're betting on Clingan being better than Edey in 2 years. Advanced stats are already pretty similar. I'd bet on Clingan having the better career.

Sanogo just doesn't have the playstyle. The NBA doesn't want guys taking the shots he takes.

These 2 give me Magic/Bird vibes. Both will become dominant with more experience and time. Too bad they are in marginal markets, because in 2 years this will become a must see match up.

I think Edey also got hurt a bit by playing the defensive scheme Purdue played. That aggressive drop with no real challenge on shots outside of the restricted area made his defensive ability highly questionable. He was not as bad as that defense made him appear. I get why Purdue played that way (to save PFs and keep Edey in the game as long as possible) but it really made him look immobile on that side of the ball.

He's no Clingan but he's not as bad as portrayed.

If Clingan was healthy all year, he is better than Edey. He has a much bigger affect on the game. But you have to be on the court to affect the game.

Edey was a liability in the playoffs. That’s what I heard on a podcast.
