OT: National One Hit Wonder Day

Here is another 80's group that almost made it big. The Sundays

"Summertime" from their last album got quite a bit of radio play. Seems like there must've been something else that was at least a minor hit? Not quite sure they're a OHW. I love Harriet's voice.

Could be. I haven't heard "Summertime" that I am aware of.

I don't spend quite as much time listening to the radio as I used to back in the 80's and 90's. (Got married and our taste in music didn't quite match so had to find a new middle ground, except of course when I was alone in my car...).

Dexys Midnighth Runners - Come on Eileen. A GREAT song - loved it when i was in college. I never could understand half of what they were saying until websites like Lyrics.com were created.

Little known fact. Members of Dexy’s Midnight Runners were in a punk bsnd called The Killjoys. Amazing they went from this The Killjoys Johnny Wont Go To Heaven 1978 to what the Midnight Runners sound like.

Im sorry to bring this back so much later, but I had surgery and forgot I was compelled to post. Tracy Chapman's Fast Car not withstanding, the greatest one hit wonder of all time, and you will all agree, has to be Bob Geldof's Boomtown Rats, I Don't Like Mondays.

I thought her debut album was great, but she's mostly known for this one song. I saw her around that time, at Bumbershoot back when it was still cool.
"One of Us" was her big hit, but "St. Teresa" was her best song IMO:
