Does anyone here know why Uconn was not on the floor for the National Anthem?
Idk, but I was watching the game on TV, were you at the game?Does anyone here know why Uconn was not on the floor for the National Anthem?
I do not. (I know, why respond?)Does anyone here know why Uconn was not on the floor for the National Anthem?
Not to mention more people actually know the words to these songs! What is the most lip-synched song in America should be a Jeopardy question!I do not. (I know, why respond?)
But if they weren't there, I have no problem with that. I always thought it was dumb to play the National Anthem before a game that does not include the (a) National team. If you're gonna play music/song(s) before the game, play the Alma Mater or the Fight Song of the respective teams that are actually playing.

I don't know why. My husband and I were at the game and had a conversation with the people around us as we tried to remember if the team was on the floor when the anthem was played on Saturday. None of us could remember for sure, but we thought they had been.Does anyone here know why Uconn was not on the floor for the National Anthem?
You nailed it exactly right, UConn has a tight, regimented schedule they follow for their 3 pregame court appearance. The initial stretching and drills, the second all team shoot around and then the 3rd warmup for the starters at the 3 minute mark and right before the National Anthem for the usual home games. With the NCAAT schedule having the Anthem at 6 minutes before, UConn is in the locker room for the last minute pep talk. No slight intended. It was odd but explainable. I was at the game, and am a season ticket holder for regular season games.
Uconn has a very precise and regimented pregame routine, which they follow at all times unless there is something unusual going on, like Aaliyah Edwards' going up on the wall before one of the games.
They are out initially, stretching and some warmup drills. From there, they leave, come back, leave, and come back again. They typically come back for that last time with about five minutes to go before warmup period ends. Then typically the National Anthem is played and the players are introduced.
Last night, the National Anthem was done around 5:50, which is when UConn is typically in the locker room, as they were last night.
The NCAA probably wanted the game to start at or close to its 6:00 start time. During the season, the start is closer to 5-7 minutes after the stated start time.
