Natalie Butler is finally healthy and seeing plenty of minutes off the bench. Her stats keep coming up 6's.....;)

1. Nat has appeared in 6 games.
2. She has scored 36 points for an average of 6.0 per game.
3. Butler has 6 blocked shots, plus 6 personal fouls and 6 turnovers.
4. Her rebound total is 36, also an average of 6.o per game.
5. Natalie's combined assists and steals are twelve, which is twice 6.
6. She wears #51, which adds up to 6.

Natalie should get better and better, since the next 6 opponents are AAC conference games....

Nearly very minute she gets, saves wear and tear on either Morgan or Stewie. I really like her game in the high post. She also has some pretty nifty outlet passes to her credit. Keep up the good work NB!

Great summary David! I like Natalie's game a LOT. I like how hard she works and the effort she puts in. I like how she battles in the post. I think as the season continues and she gets more and more time on the court during games, her individual "performance" will tighten up. I watched her almost exclusively when she was in during the Temple game and she often seemed to be a half step behind what was happening on the court - on both offense and defense.

This is not a criticism - just an observation that the year she took off for RS, and the almost half season she had to watch from the bench due to her injury has probably caused her to not quite be "in the flow" instinctively as the other teammates are. I think it's something that will smooth out as the season progresses and she gets more "reps" during games with the other "starters"...

I am so glad these comments about Natalie are discussing how she can add value to the team and not digressing into who starts or who comes off the bench. Well done!!!

There will be at least one game this season on a bad shooting night where the team is going to rely on her for rebounding and defense. We'll see.

I agree, I don't think she's quite there yet, physically or mentally (as in knowing where to be, when). I imagine she'll progress over the rest of this season and have a good offseason to be ready for next year.

Agree with ericsandiego. Not quite "in the flow." Four fouls, Ouch, in a 12-minute stretch of her 17 minutes vs Temple. The refs were awful, true, but players have to adjust

Said the guy whose avatar is Kiah Stokes!

You may very well be right.

I like the fact that she is getting minutes by the quarter - you can see her getting winded a bit, but Geno is keeping her out there to build her stamina.

Minutes wise - people were worried about how they would be distributed this year with so much quality on the team - injuries and one defection have reduced the log jam, but the distribution has been healthy - Gabby, Lou, and Napheesa are averaging about 20, the 4 returning starters 28-30 which will come down a little now we are into the softer part of the schedule with more bodies available, and Chong and Butler are around 15 and Courtney at 11.

I've always loved players who battle and go into the dirty areas for rebounds etc so I love what I see from Natalie Butler so far. I just hope she can remain healthy.

Yikes! There he goes again- that amazing algorithmic anomaly of astounding arithmetic acuity. Absolutely astonishing.

Very happy so far. She doesn't seem very aggressive though, on the other hand, it has to be frustrating working so hard in the paint and not getting passes there. We're not too good at passing into the post. Guess she needs to learn how to keep her player on her back in order to get passes. I also have wondered if she has something sticky on the bottom of her sneakers that prevents her from jumping.
Does anyone remember another player we had, about whom geno said you'd never see light between her sneakers and the floor? Who was that?

A smart hockey player!

No doubt, she IS a player. I would like to see her jump, though! Can you imagine what a force she would be underneath if she could/would jump just a couple of inches off the floor?

And don't forget that both Kennedy and Lincoln had seven letters in their name, Lincoln was elected in 1860 and Kennedy in 1960, Kennedy had a secretary named Lincoln and Lincoln..........

[Before we get six and tired of this thread...]

The Maestro is slowly building the Great gNat into a well-conditioned, contributing, special use weapon of the arsenal.
Nat committed herself to us... paid her NCAA dues... studied the team flow... drove herself in practice... patiently recovered from injury... and is now being polished.

Reflect on Heather's blunting of the Great Griner for one auspicious game & Kiah's insertion(s) to HUMBLE & frustrate intruders in the paint...
Geno got game(plans)!

I'll just add that Natalie's per-game numbers would be higher if Geno hadn't put her in for only the final 31 seconds of the USF game. But then we'd have missed out on all this fun of playing around with the sixes! See, Geno always has a plan… :D
