Such a great example of why quitters never win. Shabazz stuck through the tough times, learned, and is now in contentions for a national title and POY. What a tremendous role model for everyone.

He deserves all the accolades for his skills and especially for staying. Came from a tough back round and has been a model citizen. Can anyone imagine if he had left the devastating effect to the program? he kept us out of a black hole, and who knows if KO gets and keeps his shot as coach.

I don't think it's hyperbole to say he's certainly an all time great and he may be one of the most important players in UConn history from the title as a freshman to sticking it through a coaching transition, the tourney ban, the demise of the big east all to becoming the best PG in the nation and leading UConn throughout it all? Huge stuff.

Deserves all the accolades. That sophomore season he played all season with that foot injury which required off season surgery. And yet he doesn't use that as an excuse for his "poor" play. He called out his team mates publicly. His worse move at UConn. But I would wager anything that the chemistry flaws came from someone other than Bazz. He chose to take the heat for it.

Love this article by the Courant.
