And I love it.

Napier also addressed the ban and spoke about the players to transfer out of UConn, too: “It’s sad that we can’t play in the NCAA tournament or the Big East tournament, but those are things you have to deal with. Like I said, some people deal with them, some people run away. It’s how you’re born. It’ s how you live your life.”

In more relevant late breaking news our big man Alex Oriaki transferred to Missouri.

I wish Napier would concentrate on his game and becoming a more complete player rather than taking shots at students who wish to study elsewhere. But hey, maybe he wasn't born that way.

Guarantee you Shabazz is concentrating on his game. There is nothing wrong with what Shabazz said about the players who left. Shabazz is right. Much rather have a player with heart, courage and loyalty, then guys who cut and run. Say what you want about deciding to play elsewhere, but when the going got tough they bailed.

Lets be honest. It wasn't about studying elsewhere. It was about playing elsewhere.

I hear they are considering to allow women to vote? Anyone else hear this rumor?

We can agree to disagree but as a leader you don't say things like that about former student athletes, your former teammates, considering this punishment wasn't their fault. Napier likes to talk, alot. I hope for his sake he has a breakout year next year.

Khalid also liked to talk. Guess what? They both have National Championship rings.

Those guys are gone, it doesn't matter what Napier says about them now. I think a lot of guys are hurt that Roscoe and Alex decided to leave.

Kids are going to be kids, and if asked a question directly, i hardly think they are "mature" enough to deflect or answer in a PC way. while, as an adult, i probably wish he didn't say that, it's nothing we all haven't thought about the guys who abandoned the ship. and some of us have thought (and said) much worse...

Please don't ever compare Shabazz Napier to one of the greatest, most competitive point guards in UCONN history. Sure Khalid talked, I would hope Shabazz improves to half the player Khalid was during his UCONN career.

Napier is already more than half the player Khalid was, I don't think you realize how few sophomore PG's have done as well as Napier. Now half the leader, that is still up in the air.

You are sounding like Mark Emmert with your repeated use of the "student athlete" term. They are basketball players. Its a sad state of the NCAA when I can't see the words student athlete used without laughing.

Shabazz is a National Champion and probably the most loyal player we've had in UConn history. He is allowed to indirectly criticize players that "quit" on the program, as far as I'm concerned. He is a potential NBA player yet he's staying loyal to UConn even though we can't play in the postseason. How can you not respect someone like that?

I'm guessing your UConn history doesn't go back very far. I'm also guessing you weren't privy to the fact that Shabazz was planning on jumping to the NBA draft after this past season, especially after GottLIEb declared him one of the top NBA point guard prospects in the country. Then reality struck.

He's our guy, so I love him. But imo he regressed this past season, especially on defense; and he needs to learn to speak with his actions, not his words.

He was injured the entire year. I wouldn't say he regressed at all.

First off, how does a 20 year old kid "regress"?

Secondly, almost every single NCAA basketball player would jump at the NBA if they had the chance.

I think an interesting thing to consider is, would KEMBA say something like that in this situation? We cannot know for sure but I do not think he would. What made Kemba a great leader was his humility and ability to empathize/relate to his teammates even though he was superior talent wise and they loved him. Shabazz is a good leader but he does not seem to have that ability. He has his own opinion and believes in himself and is very confident which can come off as arrogant. I think some of his teammate and those with weaker/follower personalities like Oriakhi don't respond very well. I know because I think I have had BOTH types of teammates in the past but always get along better with the KEMBA type. Then again, when I try and lead I tend to be like Shabazz and some people don't like it. Of course all this is just my speculation but it's how I see it. Nevertheless I think the team will get along better next year and their personalities wont clash as much. People underestimate how much dissimilar personalities and attitudes between teammates can make or break a team regardless of talent.

Actually, sophomore Khalid and sophomore Shabazz are incredibly similar players - and both are National Champions.

Stats don't tell everything, but the intangibles you say about El-Amin you could easily say for Napier.

I'm fine with it. The last time he ran his mouth he drained a 35 footer at the buzzer to win the game.
