Does anyone know when the Rent can start selling the rights to the name? Pretty sure I saw that it was at least 10 years after opening and it has to keep "Rentshler Field" in the name. My guess is a bank or insurance company will get the naming rights.

>>SUMMARY

The state, acting through the Office of Policy and Management (OPM), secretary, controls the stadium's naming rights but (1) cannot sell them until the summer of 2018 and (2) must meet several conditions before selling them.

The state acquired the Rentschler Field site through a donation by United Technologies Corporation (UTC). Under statute and the terms of the donation agreement, the stadium must be named Rentschler Field until the summer of 2018, and any proposed name after that must include the phrase “at Rentschler Field.” UTC also has the right of first refusal for purchasing naming rights and the ability to reject a proposed name for the facility.
The state must also (1) negotiate an agreement with UConn to share revenue from the sale of naming rights and (2) receive an opinion from bond counsel that a proposed naming rights agreement would not jeopardize the tax-exempt status of the bonds used to build the stadium.<<

Not later than A) 20 minutes, B) UCONN is invited to a P5 conference, or C) 2018 as the state agreed with United Technologies.
Ideally, A = B.

I assume UTC will buy the rights come 2018. So we could have United Technologies Stadium at Rentschler Field or maybe they would go with Pratt & Whitney Stadium or one of the subsidiaries.

I think PeptoBismal Stadium at Rentschler Field. Lord knows there have been enough games that have left us sick to our stomachs.

I think Motel 6 has a good shot. "Hi I'm Tom Bodett and we always have a lot of seats available we'll leave the light on."

Saw the title from the corner of my eye and thought it was "human rights at the rent". My immediate reaction was to think that would be a fair topic for discussion...
