Hey, our team just won it's 4th National Championship. This fact will carry me through these recruiting dramas without too much distress. I want players to come here who really want to be part of the KO/UConn experience. We've gotten 2 excellent recruits signed. Life if good in Huskyland!

Have any of the ones considering UConn given a time for their announcement today?

Everyone has a reason in this group of players and so did Clarke.

Clarke was playing time.

Briscoe will simply be either stay home or be the superstar he and dad want at UK.

Jones we honestly don't know, but UNLV being in the picture is strange.

Mack - strong pressure to playing near home as well as from his final list we were the latest to the dance.

Stone - May stay home for obvious reasons or come here for even more obvious reasons.

None would seem to have anything to do with UConn or the AAC. Always something for the kids to think about and the AAC and National Championships always #1. There may be more 2016 kids more interested in the NC from last year than these kids who have already been in the process for 2-3 years.

If they come great, if not we're still going to win basketball games!

Kudos to all the Boneyarders who didn't answer 20 minutes. My guess would be early evening in prime time.

You know thats a good point about the championship effect, it might even be a 3 years out kind of thing. Those kids who are about to become heavily recruited may be beaming with affection for Ollie and co. after watching the tourney last year.

This is my take on things. Which is why I think a good performance this season is important, although not critical, to maintain the momentum.

That logic doesn't really hold since we won in 2011, so we should be flooded with those kids that grew up watching our tourney run.

Not at all remember the negative publicity with the team the following year and APR? Hurt the momentum..........

2016,17,18 kids will be impacted even more on KO and that run I think!

Yeah I don't agree, far too many other issues going on for that championship to have a big effect on the minds of the kids being recruited. The end of the Calhoun era, the end of the Big East, the APR thing.... if anything this past year's championship will just quell any of the fears kids had about the program post-calhoun, post-big east. So now we should maybe see the effects of both the 2011 and 2014 championships on recruiting. We're here to stay, we're not going anywhere, with or without you kids... we'll find a way

But I would think that this most recent title would have had its most significant impact on this recruiting class. We're fresh off a championship, hot young coach, new basketball facility. If we can't win recruiting battles with UNLV and VCU after that, what's the plan when we're coming off a mediocre season?

We got Daniel Hamilton after a mediocre season. He saw a team graduating Giffey, Kromah and probably Daniels (plus Bazz, who was ball-dominant) and saw playing time and touches to be had at a great basketball school.

All these wings we are recruiting are insurance policies. If DHam isn't one and done, we have Hamilton and Calhoun at the 3 for two more years. And even if he is one and done, we can easily slide Purvis or Cassell to the three to back up Omar (or Omar can back up them). We are not recruiting a position of immediate need. You have to figure recruits know that - they'll care less about a shiny new practice facility if they aren't sure they'll see much time in the game facility. Hamilton looking like the goods in exhibition season might have been enough to discourage Mack and/or Jones if they were on the fence, if they didn't want to play behind him for who knows how long.

It'll be a need in 2016 to get a wing. Or at least another scorer or two in the backcourt (you don't really need a true wing to succeed in college - three guards is fine). But for this year, we are trying to fill our 12th scholarship with some insurance/bonus depth, and that's not easy to do with top 50 kids, unless you have Wiggins, Parker, Randle types who everyone knows have a foot out the door.

Stone is different, since we don't have a player like him.

There are problems going forward for sure. The Ali recruitment proves it. Here's a kid that COMMITTED to UConn and watched them win a championship. We can't assume recruiting is going to improve, given what happened with Ali.

We are coming off 2 recent national championships, best young coach and staff , so if and I say if there is failure in recruiting I guess it's the league. Process of elimination says there would be no other reason, the APR stuff is dead and gone. I can see schools from the power 5 pitching against our league, but it's way too early to say anything yet. I know one thing though, I will not be blaming KO if that happens and I agree that we still have plenty of talent going forward.

Yet we lost 2 recruits today to UNLV and Virginia Commonwealth. Who play in leagues worse than ours...
