Mystics waive Novosel and Mingo

Mingo had a nearly fatal medical issue. I hope she does well somewhere.

I saw the Mystics a couple of times last year. I'm not sure if Novosel thought she needed more time or space to launch her three, but very often she was open but took a dribble or two toward the hoop and gave up her advantage. The flip and flop in the lane wasn't used much.

Novosel isn't that good...so I could see why she got cut.
Wait! You have Elena, and not Cappie, as your avatar? I would too, but I'm not a Rutgers fan/alum.

Does that mean that McKenith and Ruffin-Pratt made the roster?

Is Kia Vaughn only 6'2"? I thought she was 6'4".

EDD is my favorite player period, and Chicago is my favorite WNBA team. Rutgers is still my favorite NCAA team. :p

I still love all Rutgers players though, but not as much as EDD. LOL

Kia is 6'4.

WAS still needs to make one more cut..I don't know who it will be though. Mike seems to be impressed with all his rookies.

I had forgotten that they just added JMo.

Seeing you are a Rutgers fan who hasn't witnessed a good basketball team in years, I could see why you said that.

Both Jessica Adair (6'4") and Nikki Anosike (6'4") have also been waived this week....Adair by Minny and Anosike by the Sparks. I wonder if either will find a spot on anyone's bench before the music stops at the season begins.

Right now, Minny has Pepper Wilson (6'6") in camp, just signed Janel McCarville (6'2") and still has Amber Harris (6'6"). They are at 14 so some cuts remain. The smart money is on Maya to make the team :)

So true, doggy. many folks don't recognize the diff between quality of top college players and top W players.
I've posted this before, but I'll do so again. I asked Patty Coyle, when she was with the Liberty (appearing at a RU fan event) what the biggest on-court difference was between coaching in the W and in the NCAA. She pointed out that in the NCAA most decent teams are lucky to have one really good "star" and the best teams have 2 or 3, in general. Baylor with Sims and Griner comes to mind. In any case, in the W, the teams consist, top to bottom, of players who have the skill sets that only those few "stars" had in college, and you have to coach accordingly.

Curious that Anosike was cut. She was an all star her 2nd or 3rd year in the league. I wonder what changed for her.

IIRC she had an injury; I know Adair did, and she has really not been the same since. Which stinks because I remember how good she was getting toward the end of the 2011 season. She was becoming a force.

Anosike is a good all-around player, including as a defender, and Adair did play very well in 2011. Some pretty good players who have had some success in the W are getting cut.

I'm sorry, we're not talking about college here. We're talking about the WNBA, and from what I saw last year( I watched a few Washington games) she wasn't playing very well. So yes, I stand by what I said...she isn't that good compared to the other talent in the WNBA.

And the part about being a RU fan...
