I know we still have 4 more weeks of Spring Practice and the Spring Game ... but I wanted to try to piece together a very early version of what the 2016 Defensive Depth Chart may look like. Of course a lot is subject to injuries and attrition ... but I would say 9 of the 11 positions can almost be written in ink. WLB and SS seem to have the most potential for competition.

Thoughts ...

Nice job Kgun. Also think it's safe to say that with his history since he's been here, Diaco will play the 2 deep front 7 a lot.

Nice. I think the DL 2 deep will have 2 maybe 3 RS Fr - ryslik, okunam, and Murphy will see field before Blackwell or Atkins, imo.

I'd hate to think we moved garland to S to have him on 3rd team.

From Jim Fuller post today:

>>The next practice the media will be allowed into is on Mar. 23. It will be interesting to see if the pecking order when the team takes the field. I will be especially interested in how the redshirt freshmen, especially on defense perform. Philippe Okounam and Kevin Murphy were working with the second-team defensive line along with redshirt sophomore Sheriden Lawley with Cam Stapleton and Omaine Stephens were playing the defensive end/outside linebacker positions.

How quickly Connor Freeborn and Nazir Williams emerge and if they can ultimately push Vontae Diggs for a starting spot at that hybrid defensive end/outside linebacker position is worth monitoring while William Richardson is a player I am intrigued by at the inside linebacker position as is Marshe' Terry at safety. Defensive lineman David Ryslik was seeing some second-team work a season ago but was limited in the first spring practice. Once he is fully cleared, I expect him to figure prominently in the defensive line rotation.<<
