I have used this page as a guide. College football rankings: Associated Press Top 25

It’s a wild idea but I have it all figured out. Lowest ranked team plays highest ranked team. I would have an other receiving votes tournament too whoever wins that tournament plays the 25th ranked team. You have to get that receiving votes tournament down to 8 teams so I have the 10 and 9th team play each other then the winner plays the 8th team then you have those 8 teams play each other highest vs lowest of receiving votes team.

Now for the 25 team tournament teams 1-15 get have to win 4 games to win it all, team 16 five games, 17 six games, 18-25 nine games. I’ll give examples assuming all higher ranked teams win rd by rd examples.

25 vs 18, 24 vs 19, 23 vs 20, 22 vs 21

18 vs 21, 19 vs 20

19 vs 18

18 vs 17

17 vs 16

16 team playoff

1 vs 16
2 vs 15
3 vs 14
4 vs 13
5 vs 12
6 vs 11
7 vs 10
8 vs 9

Elite 8
1 vs 8
2 vs 7
3 vs 6
4 vs 5

Final four
1 vs 4
2 vs 3

Championship game
1 vs 2

This removes any debate of the undefeated teams, you get rewarded for being higher ranked and punished for being lower ranked. The other receiving votes team you have to face a gauntlet challenge but you can better evaluate your team against elite competition.

Great on paper but this looks like a 9 week tournament? To finish by mid January you’d have to start in early November.

I’ll run a simulation once what if sports updates the teams to the 2021 season. Whoever wants to go right ahead.

FBS should do it exactly like FCS does. They have 24 based on auto qualifiers and at large.

This will not happen because the P5 conferences don’t want to share and risk shattering the glass ceiling that everyone has been gaslighted to believe in.

I figured it would be a 24 team tournament and then the winner plays the SEC champ. :)
