I never get to go to games at Gampel or the XL Center. But this season I might actually get to see a game or two in person. Our daughter lives in DC and I’m hoping to arrange a visit that coincides with the game against Georgetown or Maryland (if there is one). Does anyone here have any experience with those venues and where the visiting bench is?

The UConn games at GT are usually moved off campus to Carefirst Arena in downtown DC. Go to the Carefirst web page and click on events and then Buy Tickets. The easiest thing to do is to find the next Mystics home game and search for tickets. You will see the arena layout which shows the benches.

GT probably won't verify the game location until the BE schedule comes out.

For those of us who live in the DC area, CareFirst Arena is in SE DC but about seven miles across the river from the White House/Smithsonian area, which is generally considered downtown DC.

Carefirst Arena is a newer facility and a pretty nice venue, but it isn't large and ticket prices reflect that. It also isn't the easiest place to get to by car if you are coming into DC from the suburbs. Not sure where the nearest Metro station is, but it we go to the game this year I may look into driving to a suburban Metro station and then taking Metro into the city. It's in an area that is being redeveloped so the infrastructure is not what it could be at the moment.

It is near the Congress Heights Metro stop on the Green Line. The walk is about 0.3 mile. I prefer to go there during day games. I often park in the neighborhood about 2-3 blocks away. It is safe and free. A few years ago, I parked in the upper deck of the garage, and it took me an hour to get out.

I've been to Mystics games, G'town women's games, and high school games there. I saw the DC City Championship game 6 years ago. Azzi set the arena record with 38 points. That's still the record.
