Do you guys think it is possible? I mean if they go undefeated then I guess you have to give it to them. Would love UConn to be the #2 in their region.

I'd love to be a #2...period. We have a long way to go to get there.

St. Joe's was a #1 seed in 2004 (undefeated reg season, with one loss coming in their conference tourney) so I think you give the #1 to Murray State if they run the table.

If they run the table then yes, they will get a 1 seed.

And honestly, if you play 30+ games in division 1 without losing, you probably deserve it. That's an incredibly difficult feat regardless of your schedule.

If they go undefeated, they will probably get somewhere around a 4 seed. Their level of competition is not in the same stratosphere as Saint Joes' was. The majority of Murray State opponents are not in the top 200 in RPI.

There was a team 2-3 years ago who was ranked #10 and got a 6 seed I believe. Perhaps Butler? Anyways, seeding has nothing to do with rankings and there is no chance Murrary State is a top 2 seed.

They have a 0% chance of getting a 1 seed. There isn't another team in their league in the top 160 of the RPI. St. Joe's was different - they played in a halfway decent league.

Go Murray St, Go!!!!! Yes give them any seed they want. Makes a nice story line for the tourney. Number one seeds get eliminated every year so what the hell, give it to them if they run the table, won't happen again for years to come.

Murray St's best win, Memphis, has 6 losses and is #28 in the RPI. Next best win is Southern Miss at #63 and Dayton at #70 in the RPI. And after that, the wins are not just bad, but horrendous.

Murray St themselves are #117 in the RPI and will not finish higher than 100 due to the league they play in.

If they go undefeated, they cap out at 4 seed.

I don't know what's more absurd .... Murray State as a 1 -seed or us as a 2-seed. I'd give the nod to Murray State as the 1, since we at least have a chance to play ourselves back into a 2-seed. Ain't gonna happen either way ("so you're telling me there's a chance.")

I like the Murry St story and hope they go undefeated this season. I think they end up no better than a 4 seed no matter what happens. If they lose a game they will be around a 7 seed.

Murray State will probably be a 3 or 4 seed if they go undefeated for the reasons above (weak schedule). If they lose one game, they probably drop down to a 8/9 seed at best.

If they are a 1 seed, they will have the best chance of any 1 seeds ever to lose to a 16.

They're a good team, but their competition is a joke.

Great thing about college bball is that they can disprove me.

Is this a joke?

There is a 0.00% chance that they will get a #1 seed if they are undefeated. If your best win is over an unranked Memphis team then you really do not have a best win.

3 seed max.

This reminds me of the college football arguments about Boise St. being selected for the championship game.

The great thing about college basketball is that it doesn't matter if they get that #1 seed. As long as the bracket they are in is as fair as any other (and this is a topic I will discuss when March arrives), they can prove they belong by winning.

The NCAA has moved to a situation where the only thing that matters is RPI. Murray St won't have a high enough RPI to get a 1 seed. The St Joes example isn't appropriate. The A-10 is better than Murray St's league and St Joes had some good non-conference wins too.

That St. Joe's team played in a league that had 3 other NCAA tournament teams in it and St. Joe's went 3-1 against them.

They also beat Gonzaga on a nuetral court, the Zags were a 2 seed that year and lost a total of 2 games.

They also beat BC who ended up being a 6 seed.

There is no comparison between the two. The 2006 GW team is a little bit more of an apt comparison. They lost 2 games, 1 in their conference tourney and were an 8 seed.

a 3 seed is their ceiling.

I think they're going to lose one game (probably Bracketbusters), and will end up being a 6 or 7 seed.
