I saw her going #2 in a mock draft yesterday. With the CT Sun having picks 3 & 4....dare I say Mo Jeff & Morgan moving right down the road from me?

I have to plead a lack of knowledge on this subject........ I assume she is an undersclasswoman....are the rules for entering the draft early the same for women's basketball as they are for the men? If that is the case how come we don't see more players leaving early.

She is a redshirt junior, basically the same situation as Morgan Tuck. Had a fifth year if she wanted it.

I see.........well can't blame her for leaving just as in Morgan's case......is that the only exception on the women's side? Obviously the men kind of leave the moment their season ends if they think will be drafted in the first round

With some exceptions, the basic rule is that you need to either a) turn 22 in the calendar year of the draft or b) have graduated from college or be set to graduate within three months of the draft.

If you have remaining eligibility, you must renounce it no later than 10 days before the draft, which is today. Players who are still playing 10 days before the draft (i.e. Tuck) must renounce their eligibility within 24 hours of the conclusion of their last game.

A player can also enter the draft if she's a certain minimum age. That is how Jewell Loyd entered the draft only 3 years after graduating high school.

thanks for that info.....From my perspective, I much prefer having great players stick around on their college teams for awhile but I certainly understand why many choose to leave as soon as they can.......I'm surprised that no WBB player has tried to have the rules changed to match the men.......perhaps it has something to do with the NBA rules vs WNBA rules for eligibility?

The NBA had no age requirement, just a requirement that they could not draft/sign college players - HS players had been drafted. So it was a pretty tuff situation to justify legally.

Now, THIS is a new trend that's bad for the sport.

This is the same situation as Tuck. So if Tuck leaves this is also bad for the sport? How about good for the player? She's foregoing her 5th year. I say good to both players. Yeah, I have a huge selfish streak that would love for these players to return. Still, enjoy and go live your life. There's a big world out there beyond the classroom; and good luck.

Actually, apart from anything else, I think the drastic difference between WNBA and NBA earning potentials has a lot to do with it.

Among players who played there 5th year, Cappie Pondexter and Tameka Johnson of LSU come to mind. Conversely, Epiphanny Prince left after her Junior year and played for a year over-seas, since she wasn't eligible for the WNBA. Of course, players earn more over-seas than they do in the WNBA for the most part.

WNBA mock draft: CT Sun will have Moriah and Tuck as #3,#4
Interesting Sun will have Bank #23, Michala Johnson #27 and #15 Courtney Williams (USF)
That is a UConn reunion.

Somehow I think Talia Walton is likely to be drafted after the Washington run to the FF got her lots of exposure. Anyone who drafts Banks with Walton available should immediately be fired by the owners. I would not be surprised to see her drafted in the first round - big athletic and a good three point shooter. I would consider her over Imani and Hamblin as I think she is a better basketball player even if she is only 6'2'.

Think so. Way to busy to stay up on it. I know she was supposed to play with Russia in the Olympics and I thought I saw a comment recently she might return after the Olympics (to the WNBA), but I'm not up on the details.
