NO. 19 UCONN HEADS TO GEORGETOWN ON SATURDAY The Huskies will make their first road appearance of the 2016 season on Saturday in Washington, D.C. Sept. 8, 2016 WASHINGTON, D.C. – After opening the 2016 season with three wins in four home matches, the No. 19 UConn men’s soccer team makes its road debut on Saturday, Sept. 10 when it travels to Georgetown. Action at Shaw Field is set to begin at 1 p.m. and can be heard on WHUS.org, 91.7 FM. UConn (3-1-0) is coming off a 2-0 victory over Cornell on Monday night at Joseph J. Morrone Stadium. Nick Zuniga (Norwalk, Conn.) and Andrew Geres (Portland, Conn.) tallied their first goals of the season in the second half as the Husky defense recorded its second shutout of the season. Saturday’s meeting with the Hoyas will mark the 27th meeting between the two teams in a series dating back to 1991. The Huskies own a 14-9-3 all-time mark against Georgetown after securing their first win against the team in 1991. Georgetown enters Saturday’s tilt with an 0-4-0 record, most recently falling to Virginia Tech, 1-0, on Sept. 5. Offensively, the Hoyas have scored just one goal in their first four matches and have allowed opponents nearly 15 shots per contest. Connecticut owns an 8-7-4 mark in road openers since Ray Reid’s arrival in 2013. After a 1-1 weekend, the Huskies earned the No. 19 ranking in the weekly TopDrawerSoccer.com poll.
