It could've been trite or sappy w/ a dog narrating much of the story, but it was well handled. I haven't read the book it was based on, so I had no idea what to expect other than what I saw in the trailers. They did a good job of not really giving away where the story was going. The dog(s) were great, Kevin Costner was a good choice to voice the dog, Milo Ventimiglia and Amanda Seyfried were good as the leads. I didn't realize most of the story is set in Seattle. Some of the filming was done in Canada (Vancouver BC usually doubles for Seattle on screen) but a fair number of shots were definitely my city.
