Tenacious D was one of the best rappers of the early 90s.Yup. Shows the importance of it especially when combined with Tenacious D.
Just because you weren’t born doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. That's a helluva lot of 3's.
Also, first in with a "Team X with player Y in the 1960's or 1970's would have had Z more 3's had there been a 3-point line 'back in the day'".
Joke well taken, but there actually is a musical act called Tenacious D, and they are glorious.Tenacious D was one of the best rappers of the early 90s.
We were basically a high-level 3-and-D team, combined with amazing interior play. Unbelievable balance across the board.Yup. Shows the importance of it especially when combined with Tenacious D.
Hurley did a lot of work to reshape the roster. That Year 3 team was lacking in shooters aside from Cole and Polley. Gaffney had a good shooting year and Martin was ok. Bouk under 30% from 3. Brendan Adams was even worse.3pt shooting over the years
Year 1- 252 made; 34%; 16-17
Year 2- 216 made; 32%; 19-12
Year 3- 155 made; 33%; 15-8
Year 4- 245 made; 35%; 23-10
Year 5- 353 made; 36%; 31-8
That's the key is balance. Simply jacking up more 3s isn't the answer. Shooting 3s within a good flow of the offense and the offense setting up high quality 3s is the way.We were basically a high-level 3-and-D team, combined with amazing interior play. Unbelievable balance across the board.
And there really is no correct or wrong answer in what to do when you, as a coach, take over a lousy team (in 2018). 1) show loyalty to existing players a coach inherited in hopes that they will run through walls for the coach, which is what Hurley chose or 2) tell existing players they should look elsewhere and replace most of the roster, like Pitino has done.Hurley did a lot of work to reshape the roster. One of the most impressive things Hurley has done is to be very intentional about how each guy fits in the system and complements it on both sides of the floor. Those lineups in years 1-3 were not what he wanted, but he made the most of it.
Marquette played well and earned their victory so hat's off to them, but yes if UConn shot a tad better and if Newton got just a 1-2 more call to go to the FT line, UConn wins.Great information.
Would be interesting to see rebounding, offensive rebounding and rebounding differential.
Marquette was fortunate that we had an off night shooting threes in the BE tournament.
A good argument could be made this team could be the best UConn team. Certainly the best team without a point guard.
