Everyone noticed. During half time the XL Center operations people went out and cut part of the logo that was sticking up, but then on the other side Mo slipped again. It looks like they are just slippery or something when SNY showed the replay of the second time she slipped.Anyone else notice that Moriah slipped twice?Once on each New York Life logo. I hope the coaches noticed.
Or it's just a high gloss finish that tends to be slippery?I'm guessing here, but it might be that the paint used for the NY Life logo is not compatible with the fact that there is an ice rink under the floor (which means the floor is extremely cold, and gets colder every minute the wood panels are on the ice) which normally has no affect on an all wood surface, but could possibly cause a small bit of water condensation on a painted surface. Moriah did slip on something, that we know. So, the question is what did she slip on, and how did it get there?![]()
Right on, bro. It would be a tragedy of the highest order if UConn lost an historic championship because of a torn hamstring or torn groin muscle.I've seen this whole slipping-on-the-logo thing before, and it is a huge pet peeve of mine. I don't think it happens often, thankfully, and I don't immediately recall it happening at UConn before, but IMO it's too often if it happens at all. It's usually not any ordinary paint on the court that causes the trouble; more often it's some extraneous sticker applied to the court, either for a sponsor (as it was today) or to commemorate some special event like a tournament.
For me, this is simple: if these stickers are going to increase the slipperiness of the floor even a little bit, they have no business being on the court. They're not necessary, and the players' safety has to come first. Moriah was limping right after slipping on the first sticker today, and she easily could have injured her groin the way she slipped on the other sticker. This kind of thing just can't happen, and I hope it doesn't take some freak injury for people to realize how unsafe it is.
Kia Nurse slipped on the far-side logo early in the game. Not trying to disagree with anyone here but I have my own theory. If there was a bad spot on the floor it would have caught more than one player. I having played a lot in my day, did some coaching and spectated for decades believe Mo Jeff is simply too quick for her $200 sneakers.
