Could Moriah end up as the best Uconn guard ever? I remember thinking that about Kemba Walker when he was a freshman. They both are incredibly quick, can score and defend. The tempo of the game completely changes when Moriah is in playing.

Well, if you count Diana as a guard, probably not. In terms of PG, she has Sue, Jen, and Renee to follow. If she's on a par with any of those, I'm happy. She does have the most athleticism of that group. Or pretty much any group.

There's no doubt that Jefferson has a lot of potential, but she's got a mountain to climb to pass Ms. Bird, and maybe a half dozen other great UConn guards.

With a group like that there probably won't be a "the best" but rather a handful of stellar guards, hall of famers...

Moriah has enormous potential but she would have to win a "shop till you drop" prize at Home Depot to collect as much hardware as Sue Bird has accumulated.

I think she has the desire to work hard and improve her whole game. With this coaching staff and the desire to be the best you can be,there is no limit to who she can become. It is hard to look at a soon to be sophomore and predict how good or great she will be,but I see the determination in this young lady, and even if she doesn't become the best, ever,I would bet she will make the fans proud and happy come graduation.

I'm not in the comparison game but she has the potential to be superb, exceptional.
A little improvement in the outside shot and a tad more confidence is all that is required.

If you actually were able to predict that Kemba could become the best UConn guard ever after his freshman year, I want you to buy some lottery tickets for me.

We will probably know by the end of this year just how good Mo is going to be. As Geno says, you usually know what you've got by the time the player enters their junior year, and on top of that Moriah is going to be starting and playing significant minutes at the point all season.

Should be a big growth curve this year for the WaterBug.

I think Bria Hartley will be our starting point guard with MJ backing her up. Moriah will however see plenty of playing time.

If the other three starters are Stewart, KML and Dolson then who is the fifth starter if not Jefferson?

Banks ? Jefferson would be great for a change of pace

Banks might be the defensive stopper.

At this point I don't know, but I do know the starting job won't be handed to her and IMO Hartley is a better point guard. The fifth starter? Could and should be Banks if healthy, could be Tuck or Chong. Or, Hartley could play the two with MJ starting.

If he has other options Geno will not want Hartley playing PG. She played better last year when playing the 2. I expect that Moriah will progress sufficiently to fill that position as starter. He gave her many important minutes during the tournament.

This.

I am expecting Jefferson to have the keys to the Ferrari next year.

Only time will tell if MoJeff soars into Greatness.... Does not one good season Greatness make. But over a career . She had a decent start to the Greatness race ; gotta see how she does coming down the stretch and finishing.

How hard does she want it and health will play a vital role. I think the heart is there , just hope the rest of that tough little body holds up.

Ha!! I actually did predict that Kemba would be the best guard ever but it may have been after his sophomore season. I also predicted that Daniel Nava would be able to hit major league pitching before he came up. Alas, however, I did make a lot of bad predictions too.

My advice on lottery tickets is don't buy them. You have a 100% chance of saving a buck if you do that.

I see that the annual "who's going to be the point guard this year" thread is well underway. Can the "who'll emerge as the team leader" thread be far behind?

And I can't believe I am saying this but thank G....I mean heavens. The board had taken such an odd turn, it is nice to have some of the regular summer fare...
