Morgan is my fave from this class. Know why?

Because she didn't diddle UConn around and committed a full year before the LOI date. I'll bet that saved some worry for Geno, because I know it saved a lot of worry for the fans!

You mean it has nothing to do with Captain Morgan??

Here's part of why she will do well and the fans and her teammates will love her:

“She had a great work ethic,” Smith said of his first impression of Tuck. “She put in the time. She would practice with the team, then, after practice, she’d work out another hour or two more. She worked and worked and worked. [Sounds like Maya!] That was the biggest part of her game. Most kids work out, get it over with, go home and want to do something else. But, basketball is her true passion, seven days a week. [Sounds like Maya!] It will be tough to fill her shoes because those kinds of kids don’t come around too often. [Sounds like Maya!] We’re hoping her ways rubbed off on the rest of the kids because they want to be like her.” [Sounds like Maya!]

Sounds great. I think this class is going to be unbelievable. Everything you read about each one of them makes them sound better than the other (in a good way). Really looking forward to seeing them play for UCONN.

Getting back to my original point. Recruiting must be pretty harrowing for the coaches, especially the head coach - he/she has to figure out the team's needs, of course, but when nothing has been settled late into the cycle perhaps another offer has to be made for some crucial position.

So Morgan makes a fairly early committment and POOF! - Geno's got the wing slot beefed up for now and he can stop spinning his (and his coaches') wheels over that. "How are we doing with post players, CD? And breakthroughs yet?" "What about point guard? Damn, get me a point guard!"

However the real-life conversation goes, getting a high-quality early commit has got to make life a whole lot less complicated.

Yep. And, perhaps more importantly, it really reduces worry and stress on the Boneyard. :)

No it doesn't, for those of us with memories of Gemelos, Walker, McCormack and, yes, EDD. There is a long list of players who seemed destined (and committed) for success at UConn but something or other caused them to get side-tracked. The attrition rate from oral commitment to graduation makes me shudder.

In Morgan's case, her injury MAY have spurred her desire to get he recruiting process over with. Jump on the UConn offer when you have it after a torn ACL. Total guess/speculation on my part.

I guess, for some of us, there is always something to worry about. If we are feeling good, then we should worry about what we are forgetting. :D

It is better for the recruits to take all the time necessary to be absolutely sure of their choice. Morgan like Keleena knew where she wanted to play so she verballed early. I can't wait to see Morgan and the other great recruits play in November. Life for UCONN Fans is very, very good.

It didn't save a lot of worry for me.

There are two things in life I don't worry about:
1. The sun rising in the morning.
2. UConn's recruiting classes.

If I recall....Samarie was the first to comit in her class. There are lots of good options and rushing to commit is not a good idea. These kids are being recruited by all the top schools, there are not diddling UConn around. Have you gone through the recruiting process?

I have beeen. Letters, e-mail, phone calls...can all be very over whelming for a young kid. A kid like Morgan is being recruited 3 years before she has to make a decision and depending on the coach is hearing all sorts of messages.

Now its your turn....
