Personally, I'll go with Ohio State at #4.

Both are equally absurd. UCONN played Duke last year and beat them handily. UCONN has one of the best freshmen classes in it's storied history. But they want to rank Duke ahead of us? Ok. Can't wait to play them. Of course, it's Athalon. I also think Tennessee at 25 is absurd. and OSU shouldn't even be in the top 10. Miami at 15 is kinda funny too! And Rutgers should be somewhere between 12-18.

Ohio State at 4 is more absurd

But let the record show I would have UCONN at 2.

UT-Knoxville @ 25 is way too low.... Miami at 15 is laughable.... they are maybe the 6th best team in the ACC this year.

I think Duke is a legit #3, though definitely below UConn. I'm not sure about OSU, but they seem to be 4-10 spots too high. OSU wins the absurdity vote in my view. And they did not get Saniya!! :)

Miami still has the Swedish kid, but without Johnson and Williams, I think they lose 10 games or maybe more. They are behind Duke, Maryland, Ga. Tech, maybe UNC, maybe UVa., maybe others.

If UConn is 2, I assume you have Baylor at 3. :)

Duke absolutely is a legit #3. But there might be a bigger difference between #2 and #3 may be greater than #4 and #15 this year.

All of the above posts responses are appropriate to me! I will add Shocking! Duke should be happy with the state of their program and the current team. Having stated that, with the #1,#2,#4 in the current class coming off of the bench along with Kiah and Banks ;) along with a starting 5 of
CD,Bria,Kelly,KML,and Steph I am ecstatic about our team! The consensus around the country is Baylor,UCONN a gap and the rest!

IMHO we will be battling Baylor in the NC game<6th straight FF and going for our 8th Title>;) Duke will be fighting to get past the Elite Eight!
When did Atlhlon put this together? Before any recruits had verballed/signed?

Rutgers not in the Top 25,Tenn even with all of their issues at 25 is low,OSU #4? and more:rolleyes: Bizarre

I would have Miami behind Duke, Maryland, GaTech, UNC, Florida State for sure..... battling with UVA and WF for 6-8.

To be fair, tho, I don't think the gap between UCONN and Duke is huge, per se. I think this year it's Baylor and UCONN with Duke a little way back, and next year i think it will be UCONN, and then Duke. Joanne McCallie has been recruiting really well in spite of losing Stafford-Odom and Williams to UNC/Louisville respectively.

Of course Im biased, but I dont see Duke fighting to get past the Elite Eight..... barring injuries... I see them as a sure bet to be in New Orleans in April... (as participants, not spectators) ;)

I'd put them below a sure bet, but still highly probable.

Whats even more absurd to me is that Duke ran with the story and posted it on their web site. Didnt see the story on tOSU site but maybe soon?

Its been no contest the past few years.

If we wanted a more accurate poll I would ask some Boneyard fans to make one, not some Bonehead at Athlon

Well Rutgers has the chance to really prove pollers wrong. We play Georgia, Miami, & Tennessee in our OOC.

Beat the LVs, but get your own referees and timekeeper! :)

Ohio State could be ranked #4 in the B1G by the end of the season behind PSU, Purdue and Iowa. There is no way OSU should be ranked higher than a PSU team that out performed OSU last year before losing to UConn in the Elite Eight while OSU disappeared in their opening game underperforming yet again. PSU returns 100% of that team and adds talent in Dara Taylor the MD transfer and B1G preseason freshman of the year Candice Agee. So one can only wonder what Athlon was thinking.

Q: Can you talk about the new additions of Dara (Taylor) and Candice (Agee)?
A: Dara, as you know, transferred from the University of Maryland and sat out last year in her red shirt year. This year she'll be available to us for the games. Dara is lightning fast. She will continue to enhance our transition game and help us to attack. In the open court she is a phenomenal passer, so I think our fans will definitely be pleased with some of the easy opportunities she will be able to create for the guards as well as the posts. Candice, we call her Big Baby. She arrived from California. She had a great opportunity to participate with USA Basketball this summer, and that has been a springboard for her. She adapts to our style, learns our terminology, and things of that nature. She's doing a great job. Candice is a very gifted scorer at 6-6. You don't really come across kids who have an knack for putting the ball in the basket like she does. As she gets in better shape you'll really start to see a lot of her skills both offensively and defensively come to the forefront.

Yea, that's just it, Athlon really doesn't think about WBB. Never has. The best anyone of these ever did was Street and Smith and I haven't seen it around for awhile.

Grain of salt people, grain of salt.
