I just came home from work and turned on the Sun Fever game. WOW. Monty is the best player on the floor. Amazingly good...olympic material.

Double double-doubles--Tina and her Olympian teammate Asjha. They withood a 31-point shooting barrage from Catch.

7 Sun players in double figures. Yikes!

Big, big win for the Sun, their second in a row on the road, where they struggled mightily last season.

That was a big win for the Sun. Beating Indiana in their house is not an easy task.

I'm loving this balanced scoring . Next they need to work on playing 40 minutes of basketball each time out.

Edited to add: is Mistie playing the best ball of her life this year?

On the road against Indiana, their primary East competition. Big win, indeed.

I watched the whole game and am a season ticket holder. Love the Sun, love Renee but... I don't get "Monty on fire"/"best player on the floor". 3-10, 3 TOs. She did have 5 steals but it was not a great performance by Renee in my opinion.

Who would you replace to get Renee on the Olympic team? Lindsey? Sue? Sorry man, not trying to rag on you but I don't see it.

That said... a GREAT team win on the road against a very good team.

When I looked at the box score after seeing the thread title, what I saw was....

Tamika Catchings !!!!! Holy @#&((@)?!! What a line (except for 5 TOs)

Then I saw great balance by the Sun, a ton of boards by Asjha and Tina (shocker), and a hard-earned "W" on the road. Something they had precious few of last year

BTW: The Sun are home to Atlanta Sunday at 5:00....it is on CPTVSports. Let's keep an eye open
for current Huskies at the game. Maybe Moriah and Morgan [among others] might go and think about how they might be in
The League in 4 years....after getting a ring or two.

My message was written having come home, turned on the game, and watching the last 5 wonderful minutes. Sorry if I didn't make that clear.

I too was a little underwhelmed by Renee's stat line. But I didn't see this game so I will reserve judgement. From the games I've seen however, I haven't been too impressed with Renee at all this season. I'm not sure if it's her fault or rather an issue of Thibault's new role for her. It seems as if he asks her to be a chucker off the bench. She's better than that.I certainly think she has only shown regression from last season mainly because her PG duties have almost completely been taken away from her.

As for this game, congratulations to the Sun on a seemingly hard-fought win. It looks like the Eastern conference is going to be a tight race this year.

The PG duties have not been taken away from her. She's very much the point guard when Lawson is out of the game, and sometimes when they are playing together. This year's situation is much more appropriate given the team's personnel. To run a post orientated offense with both Tina and Asjha in the game, Lawson is a more appropriate point guard given her offensive discipline and her size to make the post entry pass. It is a large part of what made her a very good point guard in the Olympics. Playing Montgomery and Lawson together to start each half isn't a good option either because size is needed on both wings defensively and to make the aforementioned post entry pass.

The second unit needs a point guard that can create more offense on her own, especially if Thibault is going to continue to pull Tina and Asjha at the same time. That is typical of most teams because the bench players don't have the same ability to create shots. This is a role that takes advantage of Renee's strengths, while limiting the exposure her weaknesses. And it is the best use of the team's personnel. Successful NBA teams do this quite frequently including NBA Champions as well as Geno through the years. Renee may be more than a chucker, but that is a large part of who she is and has always been as a player. Her current roles takes the best advantage of who she currently is as a player.

All good points Scotter. And chucking may be a part of her game, but when you're missing so many of those shots as she is this season, you're led to believe she should be passing it more than she is shooting it. But you're right. That's just Renee. As it is, she is averaging a couple less assists and her shooting percentages are down from last season (when she was an All Star). But the good thing is they are just 6 games into the season. This could all turn around for her as she grows more comfortable in her new role.

Small sample size, especially for something as volatile as shooting. I wouldn't be assigning causation to her role just yet.
