Definitely an interesting idea whether at Mohegan or other locations. The advantage with a place like Mohegan is that it is such an isolated location - events in cities create their own temptations and in general create a large intersection between attendees and the general population.

I like the idea about non-conference bubbles as well as conference bubbles. And it seems that colleges in general are working with the idea of a long break from mid Nov - mid January which would create a huge playing window for various bubble locations. With the advent of quick (and relatively cheap) testing (results in hours rather than days) the daily tests of all participants in a meaningful way becomes practical as well.

There are all kinds of hallways and such throughout the building that are not public areas (watch the show "Back of House" or something like that about behind the scenes there). They wouldn't have to go through the public areas necessarily.

Based on an outsider’s limited knowledge about a particular venue, it may seem impossible. The article said that representatives of the Mohegan Sun said that it could be done. They know the capabilities of their venue better than we do.

There’s too much money involved for them to make those kind of claims and assurances and not be able to make it so. In addition to losing money, their reputation and credibility would also take a major hit.

Thanks Rocky. This is the best and most encouraging news I’ve read since the breakout of the virus. Now I’m a lot more optimistic that not only will games will be played, but maybe even a full season. It looks like we’re going to see our girls play after all. The NBA and WNBA are proving that the bubble concept does work. Now all the NCAA has to do is figure out how to make it work for what they need.

"The Mohegan Sun sets up as many as 12 basketball courts in the Expo Center for AAU tournaments. Martinelli said they could easily put down four courts, with drapes, to stage college games, perhaps even televised, there. This would be similar to temporary courts used in convention centers like the Battle 4 Atlantis in the Bahamas. This could also be a solution for mid-major conferences in the region like the MAAC, NEC or America East to play nonconference games. "
