Did not see this anywhere else and figured it deserved its own thread. Congrat’s to UConn’s Cyle Larin who got 96% (wow) of the vote for the MLS rookies of the year behind his record shattering 17 goals in 27 matches (a rookie record). Very good job. Only bad part, he’s a Canadian. The USMT could use someone like him with a strong nose for the back of the net.

PS – While not as newsworthy to most, just want to give a shout out to my local high school boys’ soccer team. They started the season with a 1-5-2 record; but, did not let that horrid start get them down. Instead, they manned-up and have now won 15 of their last 17 games. This includes yesterday’s game where as a #15 seed, they knocked off the #3 seed, who happens to be their rival and perennial power by rallying from a 2 to 0 deficit in the second half and then won the game on PK’s 3 to 0. On Friday at 2 PM, which means I can’t go, damn it, they will be playing for the Sectional Championship (North 1, Group 3). Great job boys!
