I won't speculate on any player transferring but Nowell would have to be all sorts of naive to think Hurley is handing him the keys to next year's team uncontested. A high level proven PG with size and length is definitely a transfer portal priority for UConn's staff.
Even if Nowell is better than he has been next year he is still a backup point guard IMO. But so is Mahaney and that is the problem. Does anyone see Mahaney wanting to stay here?

I don't want to speculate, but I think there are a few players who either don't want to stay here or will see the writing on the wall that they'd be better off elsewhere. I personally think we will be pretty busy in the portal.

For all my criticism of Hurley, which is well deserved, it does seem like he is admitting SOMEWHAT that he messed up. There's going to be a purge, there has to be.

We’re in the middle of the season. What do you want him to say right now?..he's going to figure it all out and we’re going to be fine moving forward.

Yes, I want him to take some kind of ownership rather than calling the players out that they "can't take his hard coaching". He constructed this roster, so who else is to blame? Some humility would be welcome from the self proclaimed "Best coach in the country" IMO

How much NIL are we giving Mahaney in comparison to the rest? I imagine that is/will be a big factor.

Amongst everything else already discussed, this is also a relatively speaking "low BBIQ" team.
The past few seasonsn every analyst noted how the ball movement was crisp, the passes were on point- hitting the recipient in stride, the off ball movement was constant.....
This season the ball is sticky. Much more dribbling, and it's often side to side or with back to the offense. Players wide open on cuts go unrewarded. Players off the ball are standing still or stutter stepping trying to figure out their place on the floor.
Might these also be the traits of a team that lacking in its point guard play?
