It may not have been the most important thing that happened in the last 24 hours in the world of Connecticut Women's Basketball, but an event that did occur in that timeframe is that Sidney Spencer (once a wearer of Orange) was signed to a 2-year contract by the Connecticut Sun.
Some may remember that in the last game between UConn and Tennessee in 2007, she hit a late 3-pointer that strongly tilted the game in favor of the Vols. They ultimately won.
She has bounced around the WNBA since she graduated without much distinction.
Anyway, this makes it plausible that the Sun might play a line-up consisting of Tina Charles at center, Asjha Jones at power forward, Sidney Spencer on the wing shooting 3's, Kara Lawson as the shooting guard, and Renee Montgomery at the point. If that line-up sees significant floor time, Mike Thibault will qualify for the WNBA's Humpty Dumpty Coach award, since he will have put UConn and Tennessee back together again. It would be a real accomplishment.
But the Southern congregations will criticize it and quote scripture reprovingly:
"What The Summitt hath cast asunder, let no coach put together."
