"The Phillies have been reported to be asking for a young third baseman or outfielder as the centerpiece to any deal. The most ideal candidate would include sending Hamels to Texas for a deal that includes Mike Olt. Olt has been superb at AA Frisco in the Texas League. Olt would easily be the best third base prospect since Scott Rolen in the Phillies system. The only question that remains is could Amaro pull the trade off?"

Likely moving up...

DFW News: Mike Olt may be promoted to Triple-A; Colby Lewis expected back after All-Star break
From Rangers beat writer Evan Grant

It’s possible that the Futures Game Sunday in Kansas City could be infielder Mike Olt’s last appearance as a member of the Double-A Frisco club.

While the Rangers are considering promoting him to Triple-A, general manager Jon Daniels said his fielding responsibilities would not change if moved. He will still spend the majority of his time at third base, with occasional forays to first. Triple-A Round Rock has a first base crisis at the moment. Olt began Friday hitting .297 with 22 home runs, 62 RBIs and a .406 OBP.

Buster Olney @Buster_ESPN - As the Rangers explore ways to improve, here's one that makes a lot of sense: A trade for Justin Upton. Ariz. looking for 3B, and Olt fits

Why on earth would the Diamondbacks trade Upton for Olt?

Rangers probably would have to give up another top prospect for Upton. He'll command a large package. Olt would obviously be the best piece of the trade though and one that the Diamondbacks could use very soon.

I know it is not likely to happen, but I would love to see Olt end up on the Cubs in a trade for Dempster or Garza. The Cubs have a lot of very good young positional players, but do not have a 3B fo the future (Vitters was supposed to be that guy, but he has lost his shine). The Cubs will be a very good team in a couple of years if they can get some pitchers in their system...but their offense could be great for years to come. This is a potential lineup they could have in 2 years which would be a greate lineup for many years ahead:

CF - Brett Jackson
RF - Albert Almora
SS - Starlin Castro
1B - Anthony Rizzo
3B - Mike Olt
LF - Mathew Szczur
2B - Javier Baez
C - Wellington Castillo

That would be a great spot for Olt to get a chance to grow with the rest of the young and emerging Cubs offense!
