Mike Noyes to Coach Spurs Summer League Team

Wow good for him! It just goes to show even walk-ons can have a great bball career at any level in any position. Happy for him. Here is a press release overview:

Noyes joins the Spurs coaching staff after spending the past six seasons with the Memphis Grizzlies, most recently as a player development coach. He got his start with the Grizzlies as a data scientist in 2018 before transitioning to video coordinator. A native a Granby, Connecticut, Noyes attended the University of Connecticut where he started as a practice player for the Huskies basketball team before becoming a walk-on his junior season and was awarded a scholarship his senior year. He earned his degree in math/actuarial science from UConn in 2017.

Former UConn walk-on Mike Noyes will be coaching the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA summer league. Perhaps the next Mark Daigneault? Definitely demonstrates a lot of poise in the interview.

Likable guy, he reminds me of Tim Legler in the way he speaks and even looks a bit like him. He seems like he's on the track to be a young head coach in the NBA.

UConn really is the basketball factory.

Good for him. Remember playing against him and a lot of the practice squad in the old gym about a dozen years ago. Time flies.
