The only near term impact for UConn might be if Christyn Williams reconsiders staying home to be a part of the new program..........

I'm a little shocked by this, TBH. I thought he would stay at Washington.

You know he'd be in Texas recruiting next week if it was a legal time under the NCAA rules

$1 Million Dollars is a huge payback for a school to pay to hire a WBB Coach from another school. Have to think Neighbors will get a substantial raise from his current $360K Salary. Not sure if Neighbors is worth it. Yes, he's a good coach, but there are others equally as good that wouldn't cost as much.

Wow. If this is legit, I am shocked. The Huskies out west is a nice program and coach Neighbors had them going in the right direction. I wish him well at Arkansas.

Charlie--why should Icare what your neighbor Mike is doing? Is he special--plays WBB ??
However if your Neighbor Mike is replacing Sykes---Hall A LOU Ya---I'm a soooo pig Whooie Razorback fan from the dark days --Great Football and Mens BB team in the darkness of the long ago.
I hope Neighbors does well and kicks some tail and gets them in gear---I like the former Central Ark and UALR ---Also like their Sheriffs --- don't pay--tie em to a pole outside.

I'm surprised by that. Maybe because of the players he lost at Washington.

He had a nice system that took advantage of Plum and Osahor's skills. I wasn't really sure how good of a coach he is, next year he would've had to prove it without those two. He hasn't made much in the way of recruiting inroads in the area and hired a staff that wasn't helping in that regard. Any Pac 12 school needs to recruit in California, but you have to be able to recruit your own turf as well and the Huskies have been failing to do that. Next year was going to a big rebuild anyway, if it happens to be under a new coach so be it.

If Neighbors does take the Arkansas job he can have some friends over right away:

With the NCAA WBB championship game tonight, 2018 prospects will be able to begin taking official visits next weekend (April 7-9).

He's a good coach. Certainly has more experience than the last coach at Arkansas.

Neighbors has said several times Arkansas would be his dream job. Add to that losing Plum and the senior class with not-as-promising replacements coming in. Hasn't established a good recruiting network in Washington, but is plugged in well in Arkansas. Going home, probably to a nice pay increase. Makes sense.

I'm not shocked. Although this article in the Seattle paper (Mike Neighbors finds a home at Washington) made it sound as if he'd laid down long-term roots in Seattle, Arkansas has always been his dream job.

The thing that really made me think he'd be likely to jump at the offer was the fact that Aarion McDonald was the only promising underclassman on his team this year. With no prize recruits in the pipeline to replace Plum and Osahor's production, next year was already shaping up to a very mediocre one.

Here's the million-dollar question about Mike Neighbors: Can he recruit? Plum and Osahor were recruited by McGuff and then stuck around when McG bolted to Ohio State. When you look at the underclassmen at UW, it makes you wonder.

McDonald was a pleasant surprise this year. Strother seemed like a big get at the time but she's been a bust so far. Yeah, outside the departing Sr. class there isn't a lot on the roster. Recruiting didn't seem to be his strong suit, but for some strange reason he never added anyone to his staff w/ strong local ties that could've helped w/ keeping local recruits home for college.

Perfect time for Mike Neighbors to make the move. With the graduation of Plum & Oshahor, Washington probably falls to the bottom half of the Pac12 next year. He gets a chance to go home to Arkansas, get a few years to rebuild the program and for a lot more $$$.

I was impressed with his coaching ability to design a non-tradition system to utilize his two uniquely talented seniors - that speaks to someone who is adaptable to the players he has. Plum anyone could have used well, but Osahor was someone who in another program could have ended buried on the bench because of the things she couldn't do.

But Washington will I think fall back considerably this coming year. But I didn't think he would bolt even with the Arkansas connection.

Cost of living in Fayetteville, AR is a lot less than in Seattle, WA.
