1. Maryland going to BiG caught everyone by surprise, but after a think understandable.
2. RU going to the BiG caught everyone by surprise, but after a think none, except RU fans, really understand.
3. ND will stay Independent.
4. UConn to the ACC is a no-brainer.
5. Is the ACC vulnerable? Lets see, the following key teams are NOT moving to the BiG: UNC, FSU, and Clemson. The following key teams are not moving to the SEC: UNC, FSU, Clemson, GT, NC State, and UVA.
6. If GT goes to the BiG - who really cares, they are replaceable.
7. Will any ACC teams really think about the Big 12, FSU, Clemson, VT,? No - unless one ACC team leaves - UVA.

If UVA goes to the BiG then happens. VT may move, then FSU and Clemson bail, then the Carolina teams think about it. But UVA moving is really the ONLY event which will cause problems.

All Swofford needs to do is convince/confirm UVA in the strong hold (and UVA likes tradition), then ask UConn, or UConn and UL, to join and all is well. Having 14 fb or 15 fb (with UL) is fine. The SEC stays pat - no one to take, the BiG is shut out - give then GT if need be (who cares), but protect UVA. The BiG 12 will, once again have to learn to add, or offer religiously unique schools to join.

I think this situation may stay for a couple weeks as the ACC does its homework and then hopefully all is well for UConn (and maybe UL too). As coach K says find out who is onboard, this means you UVA, then invite UConn or UConn, UL, and the ACC can live again. After all it really is the Big 12 which needs redistribution.

1. No one was caught by surprise, who noticed that Maryland voted against the $50 mn exit fee.
2. Both clauses are false. Rutgers commands one of the biggest markets in the country. When the recent round of TV contracts made TV audience paramount, Rutgers became a major prize. It is not just Rutgers fans themselves, but the opportunity for other teams to play in that market and build their own fan bases.
3. How do you know?
4. It is a no-brainer if there is nothing better, eg a B1G invitation.
5. Yes, the ACC is vulnerable. How do you know those teams are not moving?
6. If GT is attractive enough that the B1G would add them, they would be a major loss. It remains to be seen if they are. I think they are more likely to go B12.
7. One ACC team has already left. The conference could easily become unstable. We don't know what the tipping point is. The B12 would like to go to 12 to have a conference championship. ACC schools are the most attractive candidates, and their below-market TV deal gives them an incentive to leave. As soon as 2 schools leave for the B12, more will look for SEC or B1G invitations. Also, the B1G is not done. They will go to 16 or 18 eventually.

Wow..........." Rutgers commands one of the biggest markets in the country." So does Army, or Columbia, or maybe even Vassar if they play men's football.

I think all will realize over time that, "RU to the BiG was, as the Brits say, folly.
