I suspect all conferences will follow suit soon, but the decision for the MAC was easy. And make no mistake - this was a financial decision, not a "student safety" decision. Basically all their teams play 2 of their 4 non-conference games as "payday" games, i.e. getting the cr@p beat out of them playing at big P5 schools. This "P5 homecoming game" money not only pays for MAC football, but all the non-revenue MAC sports as well. With the P5 not playing any OOC, or playing only one "rivalry" OOC game, football itself becomes a non-revenue sport in the MAC, so there's no point.
