Nothing about a 13 move Career in a 12 year period would dissuade me from thinking I could be a longtime HC at an NBA franchise ... after I followed a HOF guy who did 27 years at a State U.

I dunno ...

Cronin and all the Cincy folks are paranoid about realignment as well and don't like the idea that talk is off of them and back on us as a prime target. He only wants Ollie to go the NBA so he doesn't completely take over the AAC (or whatever conference) for the next 5-10 years.

Of course Cincy fits in the Big12's footprint more than we do so they still may be in a conference before us.

KO isn't an idiot. What sane person even wants that job right now?

The Celtics did this the right way, with Brad Stevens. Ainge brought him in and basically said "we know you're going to lose in the beginning. A lot. But we're going to give you a long deal because we have faith that it'll pay off long term after we rebuild."

The Lakers are not that kind of an organization. F the Lakers.

I'll say it again. What coach from an elite program, with a NC to their credit, ever left for the NBA...and if they did, were they hugely successful?

He's never leaving. The longer he is here, makes that statement even more likely to be correct.

A lot of times with coaches and professional players we get caught up in a sense of perceived loyalty to a college or organization and are surprised when they leave.

Kevin Ollie is UConn, he's one of us and I'll never say never but at this critical juncture in our programs history, coming off a title with players he loves and who love playing for him and the school we allcare about deeply - I just don't see him leaving.

Pay the man, put the contract in a box abd throw away the keys!

Ko also knows if he leaves there are 20+ people that want the U CONN job now and he won't get it back. KO will be here for at least 5-10 years before he even thinks about leaving

That little sneaky fire crotch. While I believe that he is sincere with his compliment to KO, don't think for a second that he wouldn't love for KO to take that job. I kinda admire his gamesmanship ( just a little)

I don't know it was, but a poster here said that his mother had called Cronin "that angry little carrot," and now I can never get that phrase out of my head whenever his name comes up.

Big difference b/w the Lakers under Jim Buss compared to the Lakers under Jerry Buss, I doubt Dwight Howard is in Houston with Jerry Buss still alive and in control of the organization. On another note, I read that Hoiberg just got extended at $2.2M per, I wonder where this puts Ollie's new contract at.

Hoiberg went from $2 Million to $2.6 Million. So KO should probably go from $1.2 Million to about $3 Million.

It's obvious that Cincy is not happy with UConn's success the better UConn does the less attractive Cincinnati looks when the next expansion occurs

The only conference that would take Cincy is the B-12. The ACC shot their load of inferior academic institutions when they chose Louisville. The same goes with The B1G, regarding academics, plus, Ohio State would never agree to Cincy.

Dont know why people are angry that mick is praising coach ollie. Im sure the lakers organization doesn't take into account what his opinion is on who they should pick as coach so its not a big deal

Cronin needs to worry about his role as Rhino in Amazing Spider man 2

Mick Cronin was the only coach talking up Ollie before this season at Media day when everyone was talking about Larry Brown and Rick Pitinio as the elite coaches in the league. Cincinnati finished 3 games ahead of UConn this season, I doubt he's worried about competing with them. His problem is in the NCAA tournament, not the regular season.
