Ohio State really needs a bounce-back game. They've lost 3 in a row.

With OSU up 32-29 over MS at the half the McGuff's look like they're itching to leave the top 20.

I think they will putter through the season and probably stay in the top 16 and host but not much more.

It was a 3-point game after 3Q but then Ohio State just ran away with it in the 4th.

Kelsey Mitchell passed Rachel Banham to be the all-time Big Ten leading career scorer, with 3,098 points. She now needs 430 points to pass Kelsey Plum for the all-time NCAA record of 3,527.

Mitchell, averaging 24.9 ppg heading into today's game, appears to be just slightly behind pace to catch Plum, It may come down to how many extra games she gets to play in the postseason. If OSU plays only 4 postseason games (losing in the Big 10 semifinals and the NCAA second round), she'd have to average almost 36 ppg to catch Plum — highly unlikely. But if OSU gets 7 postseason games (reaching the Big 10 final and the NCAA Elite 8), she'd need 28.7 ppg — a tall task but certainly not out of reach.

Catching Plum is unlikely, and it doesn’t look like it’s a priority for her, but catching Stiles looks doable.

consider who's coaching her..............put her on UConn and she wouldn't have broken many scoring records but she'd help win some championships.........

Don't be surprised if She changes her style of play this summer. Why?
1. Her father (who is one of the assistant coaches in the team) will no longer be in her ear or head. The worse thing she could do is bring him along for the ride. Like Lavar Ball, he needs to say at home!!!!! He helped her to get to the pros. Now allow her to go out on her own, and her new coaches to take over from there without any interference.

2. She will be in new and different surroundings, with new coaches that will have different expectations for her. Coaches that hopefully can/will hone her skills so that (those skills) will benefit her new team to their fullest potential.

3. They probably won't need her to score 30 points a game, or be the focal point of their offense.

4. She won't be the "ball stopper" on her new team like she is now.

5. She'll be getting PAID!!! THAT dynamic alone will drastically influence her outlook and thought process at the next level.

6. She will learn how to play profession basketball at that level and speed. Like all players coming out of college, she'll be the youngest player on the team. She will have to make some adjustments.

7. And last but not least.........................she'll be taught how and expected to play some defense!!!

Jordy, this summer, she may "morph" into a player you won't recognize.

Or, she may turn out like Jewell Loyd. Depends on what team she lands on and the coaching staff.

Getting rid of Jenny Boucek was the best thing Seattle did this year. Was was horrible. Look what she did to KML. She went #3 in the 2015 draft behind Loyd and Amanda Zahui B., and hardly ever saw the floor. What happened there? Can the same thing happen to Mitchell? It will be very interesting to see where (what #), and what franchise places that kind of hope and trust in her to make her their #1 pick out of all the other choices they'll have available to them. There will be several guards coming out this year that can score. Because she's close, and because she is the focal point of her team's offense, she may break Kelsey Plum's career scoring mark. If she doesn't, it won't be because she didn't try. Who goes first, her or Kia. Kia is taller (Mitchell is 5'-8"), plays defense and has that UConn DNA that coaches like.

She's 429 points away from tying the record, w/ only 7 regular season games remaining. Of course there is still conference tournament and then NCAA Tourney, but unless she REALLY picks up the pace, she isn't gonna get there. For reference she's scored 545 thru 22 games up to this point.

Plum significantly improved in pretty much every way possible for her Sr. year. Mitchell is more of the same compared to the rest of her career.

I agree with the majority of your post. However, 4 years of over shooting, playing out of control, lagging defense and bad decisions make for a wealth of bad habits.

1. Yep. And it's about time

2. But there is nothing harder than changing your game completely at the pro level.

3. Yep. And hopefully her ego won't suffer after a few years. Leading to a team change where she can shoot more. Kind of a far lesser version of Kyrie Erving. With of course, lesser reasons.

4. Hopefully

5. Yep and yep.

6. Yep. Hopefully for the better.

7. Well, she'll be taught. Hopefully she'll respond, and well. But again, it ain't easy finally learning defense at the pro level.

Frankly, it's going to take more than one summer. Or two summers. But she definitely has the talent to do these things.
