I am hoping that you guys can help me. I am coming into Connecticut from Manhattan for the Michigan game and I was wondering what the best way is to get there. I'm not trying to spend a lot of money on transportation. Any advice is appreciated.

If you don't have a car the cheapest would probably be a Peter Pan or Greyhound bus to Hartford (there might be cheaper bus lines too) but then you need to get from the bus station to the stadium via taxi, not sure how much that would be. Same deal for Amtrak which would be more $ than a bus, with the benefit of not sitting on a bus for 2 hours each way.

If you have a car, there actually aren't tolls in CT, if that's a factor, but expect sticker shock at the gas pump.

If you want a ride to the game, I can help you out. I can pick you up from a Metro North train station. PM me if interested.

Thanks Butch for the offer but I am going with 7 other Michigan fans. We want to drink and avoid driving ourselves. Sounds like a bus is our best option.

The bus will get you into Union Station downtown (I live right across the street, wave "hi!") and there's usually cabs lined up. If not call 860-666-6666 and let'em know you need a couple. The Rent is 3 1/2 miles across the river.

Get a Bolt Bus if you can. Much cheaper, has WiFi.

The game has been moved to the Yale Bowl. More room for large Michigan egos.

Just kidding. Hope you enjoy your OT loss.

The bus to Hartford then cabbing it to the stadium looks to work best for your group.

Just don't ask us for the best route to the RENT. We could tell you, but you know that axiom about dead men telling no tales.:D

Great, we are looking forward to having you guys at our house. Enjoy the game (but hopefully not the final score.)

What are you going to do for transportation after the game? Better take the cab company's phone # for a ride after, unless you have other plans. There are hotels nearby.

Since we have never had a team with such great distinction as the University of Michigan do us such a great honor and visit our stadium, the NCAA has given us permission to change our name for just this one game.

We bow to your almightyness.

Getting to Hartford by bus will be cheaper, and more convenient than taking a train requiring a change in New Haven. In advance, pre-schedule taxis, and throw a few extra or a promise of a bonus at the driver to help increase the likelihood he'll return to pick you up -- especially if it's a night game.

With 8 people all paying for buses and taxis, have you considered hiring a car or paying some dependable grad student or underemployed friend to earn some tax free cash? Use a family SUV / van, or even rent from Jersey for lower rental tax if you're skimping . You'd need to park at one of the outside lots or get dropped off / picked up nearby, but just tossing out ideas ...

I think we are going to take the megabus to hartford and find a car service to take us to the game. Thanks for the advice. Anyone have any idea where section EZ1 is? I was looking at the field map for your stadium and it doesn't seem to be on there. I'm guessing EZ stands for end zone.

They are putting up temporary stands behind the endzone under the scoreboard for the game. Kind of like where I sat in the Big House, except you're about 85 rows closer to the field.

Oh cool. I hope you enjoyed your time at the Big House. The seating can be tight but it gets a lot more people inside. In my experience Michigan fans are generally cordial to the opposing team's fans unless it is the Ohio State or Michigan State game.

I am looking forward to a good game between Michigan and UConn. I am not sure what to expect out of UConn. I know you lost several players to the draft. A lot of the Michigan alums would like it if UConn were added to the Big Ten. It would be great if Michigan could rotate between playing at Rutgers and at UConn. My trip to go back to Ann Arbor for the Notre Dame game is costing me over $500 for the ticket and over $300 for my flight. It would be so much easier if I could go see Michigan in the tri-state area.

Mich - how did you get tickets? What did you pay?

Edit: nevermind from Michigan.

Please forward this to Jim Delany and the President of the University of Michigan. Get your friends to do it as well.

If you are coming from NYC your buddies & you should take Friday off, take a Fung Wah (pray they don't crash) to Mohegan or Foxwoods and depending on how well you do at the casino, take a limo (or cab) to the Rent.

Mary Sue Coleman, the President of the University of Michigan, is retiring next July so I don't think she will have much of an impact on conference expansion. Jim Delany only cares about making money. No disrespect intended but I don't think UConn would add much in regards to tv markets.

If it was up to my friends and I, all road Michigan games would be played at Met Life stadium. Unfortunately we don't have the authority to make that happen. It seems like Dave Brandon, Michigan's athletic director, is only trying to schedule teams who are willing to travel to Ann Arbor without a return trip since the Big Ten is going to a 9 game conference schedule. I know that your athletic director is a Michigan alum so hopefully Brandon will make an exception and Michigan will be back in East Hartford some time soon.
