Am I the only one who thinks the Michael Buffer lead in and Get Ready For This has to go? We are talkIng about a new start with KO, there has been talk of a new logo and yet we still open our games in 1993. I half expect to hear the shock the world venga bus remix or what I like about UConn at every game. We need something new. Something with KO swag. suggestion box is open.

How about updating the graphics on the screen at XL Center. The make noise graphic has been the same for probably 15 years. 5 mins and powerpoint could at least make it look like it was made in 2005

We need a more intimidating song w/ our intro music. Kanye/Rihanna don't exactly get the senses tingling.

It fits in perfectly with the small time nature of the department. The live to ignore the little things, botch simple items. Is like they take no notes on what anyone else in college athletics is doing, and run away from the cutting creative edge as fast as possible.

I'd complain about ow dinky the XL banners look with different typefaces and styles, which is incredibly small time, but there's another ongoing facility embarrassment that dates back to last year...

See photo.

Honestly, I don't even hear it anymore. It's a conditional response for me at this point, so in retrospect, it's better to have something I won't hear in public so I don't stand and clap in the Chilli's crapper.

And speaking of "You All Ready For This?"...the State Farm commercial with the white guy agent with the black guy customer who do the fan cam bit is still my fave commercial on TV.

"You wanna get some nachos?"

While we are at it, let's get rid of the "You suck" chant from the student section during the players introductions.

It was out of date in 1998, let alone 2013. I don't mind Michael Buffer (I was at Gampel when Buffer was there in person vs MSU (Mateen Cleeves team) in 1999), but the C+C Music Factory has to go.

I'd also like for the pep band to burn the sheet music for Carry on My Wayward Son, and Vehicle. There has to be some up to date, upbeat "modern" music with which to come out of timeouts. This all goes into improving the in arena experience, and why I prefer to stay home...in front of the fire...and 42" inch LCD in High Def.

They're settlers. They settle. It's the New England way.

"Why would we change it? This is the way its always been, this works, no need for change!"

It's as if the only two things in the break room in the athletic department offices are tap water and Smuckers jam.

I WISH it were circa 1993. The pregame clap started with a big bass drum until about 95-96ish, if memory serves. We (in the band) hated it then, hate it now. Get rid of the Jock Jams crap!

I'm right with the original post on the outdated intro. It's embarrassing. Especially in that outdated Civic Center.

I actually think the standing and clapping until our first basket puts unneeded pressure on the players - especially when they miss a few baskets and the crowd starts to groan.

In games decided by centimeters, a single call, a single basket - I want us to have every edge possible, that includes our players not feeling pressured at the start of games.

The introduction video with the highlights and “3 national championships, 17 BE titles…” is cool. I noticed all the Washington players watching it during pregame.
Agree, we do need some new music for the pep band also…they should check out the Bristol Eastern Band…PFunk’s ”Give up the Funk”, Tower of Power’s “What is Hip”, Fox Sports NFL theme…even V.Halen’s “Jump” somehow works..

Perhaps people could not show up for the first 15 mimutes of game time. You know, just to take the preasure off the team.

Agree with both. The intro video with highlights is pretty cool. Could be played up even more imo. For example, I'd love to hear it preceded by something along the lines of the intro Dylan has used for the past decade or so, where his stage manager (backed by some regal music) says:

Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome the poet laureate of rock 'n' roll. The voice of the promise of the 60s counterculture. The guy who forced folk into bed with rock. Who donned makeup in the 70s and disappeared into a haze of substance abuse. Who emerged to find Jesus. Who was written off as a has-been by the end of the '80s, and who suddenly shifted gears releasing some of the strongest music of his career beginning in the late '90s. Ladies and gentlemen — Columbia recording artist Bob Dylan!

With our storied history, we could pen something pretty impressive and entertaining for the lead-in to put everyone in the right frame of mind.

And the music played by the band is sooooo out of touch. I love your suggestions, but the possibilities are really limitless. New Orleans brass bands (and those inspired by them) have covered almost everything at this point and would be an easy source of inspiration for new material--I have dozens of CDs with this material. Hell, the Hand High School Band covered "Freeze Frame" and "Touch Me" at a recent football game I attended and they sounded light years more relevant than our band.

To the original poster's point, yes, the "Let's ready to rumble" and "Y'all Ready for This" intro need to go, too.

Tower of Power’s “What is Hip”,
As coincidence would have it, this is playing right now on the radio station I stream at work. Can't remember the last time I heard it. Must be an omen, Alex!

Its an omen you are both old.

Ha! I'd say guilty as charged, except I don't feel old. However old you are, all I'll say is don't blink, because you'll be here before you know it.

In any event, I'm not suggesting "What is Hip?" as an intro and neither is Alex. It would be great for the band though imo.

I agree with you that we need something new, with "KO swag" for the intro, and I'll admit that, as much as I know about and love music, the new music I know best is not the type that would fit. I'll leave that to the cool kids.

guess im in the minority, i like it. works better for a big game with a nice crowd, but what doesnt
