The introduction video with the highlights and “3 national championships, 17 BE titles…” is cool. I noticed all the Washington players watching it during pregame.
Agree, we do need some new music for the pep band also…they should check out the Bristol Eastern Band…PFunk’s ”Give up the Funk”, Tower of Power’s “What is Hip”, Fox Sports NFL theme…even V.Halen’s “Jump” somehow works..
Agree with both. The intro video with highlights is pretty cool. Could be played up even more imo. For example, I'd love to hear it preceded by something along the lines of the intro Dylan has used for the past decade or so, where his stage manager (backed by some regal music) says:
Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome the poet laureate of rock 'n' roll. The voice of the promise of the 60s counterculture. The guy who forced folk into bed with rock. Who donned makeup in the 70s and disappeared into a haze of substance abuse. Who emerged to find Jesus. Who was written off as a has-been by the end of the '80s, and who suddenly shifted gears releasing some of the strongest music of his career beginning in the late '90s. Ladies and gentlemen — Columbia recording artist Bob Dylan!
With our storied history, we could pen something pretty impressive and entertaining for the lead-in to put everyone in the right frame of mind.
And the music played by the band is sooooo out of touch. I love your suggestions, but the possibilities are really limitless. New Orleans brass bands (and those inspired by them) have covered almost everything at this point and would be an easy source of inspiration for new material--I have dozens of CDs with this material. Hell, the Hand High School Band covered "Freeze Frame" and "Touch Me" at a recent football game I attended and they sounded light years more relevant than our band.
To the original poster's point, yes, the "Let's ready to rumble" and "Y'all Ready for This" intro need to go, too.
