Not a real soccer afficionado, but I have followed UConn team pretty closely the last few years. While it is pretty clear that we have some national class athletes, and a very good team, overall, we seem to dominate on defense, but barely get by on the offensive side.

Monmouth has a pretty good team with some genuinely good wins, but also lost to Sacred Heart and CCSU during the season, and failed to score against Stony Brook until overtime.

Why is it that we seem to struggle so much to score with apparently real good players against inferior teams?

That's the way our coach coaches. It is also the reason why UConn traditionally fails in the post season

Nice win for the Huskies today. A surprisingly decent outcome considering a lot of students left Friday for break. I was one who made the hour trip back up to Storrs to catch this one.
After Monmouth took an early lead, Mamadou netted a pair, his first was on a beautiful corner from Alvarez, the second one was on a PK after he was wiped out in the box which resulted in a red card.
UConn(3) will play James Madison (14) next Sunday at 1pm. This is the Sweet 16 of soccer. Worth noting in other action, St. John's(9) just lost to Brown 1-0.

Any thoughts on ticket availability for the James Madison game? Might drive down from metro Boston.

He has 3 NCs doing it his way. You have none, unless you're really JC or GA.
