One of my best memories from my time at UConn came from a school sponsored trip to New York City as a freshman. Myself and around 15 friends from my floor took a bus from campus to midtown and started exploring the city. We were all 18/19 so there wasn't much to do besides your average tourist trap that is Times Square. After seeing enough of Times Square, we decided we would do something really special and make a pilgrimage across town to a place none of us had been before. What was this special place?
White Castle
After each of us bought a "Crave Case" (a cardboard box in the shape of a briefcase that holds 30 burgers), we then proceeded to walk through sketchy parts of the city towards the subway. When we arrived back in midtown, we started walking towards where the buses were going to pick us up (at the corner of 47th and Lexington Avenue). While walking up 47th, we get to Madison Avenue and think we've been walking in the wrong direction (even though we only had to walk 2 more blocks). We then proceed to walk in the opposite direction another 10 blocks before we realize our mistake. By now, the bus is set to leave in 20 minutes, and we end up sprinting 12 blocks or so to the buses. I can only imagine what it must have looked like to bystanders watching 15 college kids sprinting up 47th street carrying giant briefcases of hamburgers. We ended up getting yelled at by the hall director on the bus, but we were still the envy of all because we had our White Castle burgers.
TL;DR: On a school bus trip to NYC, my friends and I got lost on our way back from White Castle and had to sprint 12 blocks to our bus carrying giant boxes of hamburgers. We looked silly.
