Mel's team going to The Dance

The big news here in South Florida is that Florida Gulf Coast University qualifed for the NCAA tournament by winning their conference, Atlantic Sun, championship. The FGCU Eagles went through the conference undefeated and had nice wins against Michigan State and Virginia Tech. The FGCU women's team has been in existence for only 10 years and this will be their first trip to the tournament. They are 6th in the nation with 37.3% Three-Point Field-Goal percentage.
Mel Thomas is in her second year as Director of Basketball Operations.

You are correct. Coach Karl Smesko has been there 10 years and brought them through the transistion from D3 to D1.
