Stupid little thing, but DB does follow Randy on Twitter and retweeted him a few months back

Nothing would be a bigger fail. I'd be utterly deflated, and my current optimism would go out the window. It just screams "small time".

Yeah, would really suck the energy out of a program by bringing back the guy who won our league twice in his last four seasons.

Everyone wants a shiny new toy and that's exactly what Diaco was. Once Randy got us going wed be at the top of the AAC every season.

Gee let's see...boring O; bend but don't break D where corners play 5-10 yds off the ball...didnt we just go through 3 seasons of this ? If Edsall is the guy I'm out as a season ticket holder...I'll just take that $$ and donate it to athletics for the hockey team.

Hated the way he left, and rooted for him to fail in his dream job. I am ready to forgive after the last 2 jokers. He can build a strong staff and develop players. Many went to NFL and coaches moved on to more prominent roles in other programs. Just want to be smash-mouth again and WIN!

Interesting the reaction here, yet Edsall has been mentioned on these boards and even won @NOescalators twitter poll.

My reaction would be "meh". I think Edsall has a lowish ceiling but could probably be counted on to have UConn bowling consistently, at least. I would be curious if he'd bring in capable assistants and could bump up recruiting a bit - at the end of his time in the Hathaway era he was clashing with the athletic department over qualifiers so that would be... interesting.

EDIT - thinking Edsall is a backup choice, maybe 3rd or 4th tier. Hopefully.

Are you serious? You do remember his boring offense and the 5-10 yd cushion his corners give/bend but don't break D. He failed MISERABLY at MD..but yeah let's bring him back. Just remember he was recruiting to the Big East before NOT the AAC.

If Edsall were to get the job you can put all your money on DB "highly recommending" the OC and Randy would get the message to leave the OC alone.

Not my first choice but we could do worse, and, in fact, we have done worse for the last six years.

I miss going to bowl games and his team gave me one of the greatest highlights as a fan, being there to watch them beat Norte Dame in their house!

Not exciting...but we know we'll be playing football again with someone who knows how to be a head coach. No learning necessary.
Pains me to admit this, but this is accurate. Also Randy was supposedly in the state today.

Can't really use the @NOescalators poll as evidence. I imagine opposing fans would just vote Edsall thinking it would be hilarious from their perspective.

We would undoubtedly become a better football team but Benedict has talked about scoring points and attracting more fans (literally yesterday). DB seems to smart to believe this would drum up excitement.
