Uconn has 12.

Butler, Thabeet, Kemba, Lamb, Gordon, Adrien, Okafor, Price, Allen, Armstrong, Drummond, Gay.

No Boone, Dyson, Rip Hamilton, and now no Armstrong. Soon to be no Allen and Butler.
Don't be surprised if ray is in the league for 5 more years clifford robinson played to 40 i believe and with rays work ethic he could be the nolan ryan of basketball. Oh also when guys like butler and ray leave they are replaced by shabazz , deandre, giffey , brimah and possibly bostright and calhoun

He will not be in the league till age 43. At most, he plays this and next year.

I'm not sure what's crazier, that you think Ray will play till 40 or that you think Giffey or Daniels will make a roster

Neither. Ray has a strong work ethic and could definitely play till 40. Especially now that he doesn't have to do as much or even be on the court as much nowadays. Giffey could make a roster as a designated shooter; there is little doubt about that right now. This issue will continue to be argued as long as Giffey stays on an insane pace. Daniels should at least get a chance on a roster based on potential alone. Stop being such a pessimist and ignoring facts.

Some quick math here:

Kentucky - 1.00 (NBA players per McDonald's All-American dating back to 2000)
Duke - 0.52
UNC - 0.56
Kansas - 0.93
UConn - 2.00
Florida - 1.09
UCLA - 1.09
Arizona - 1.00
Georgia Tech - 1.33
Texas - 0.62

That's the top ten. As you can see, UConn is far and away the best school in the country at developing talent using those conversions. Of course, it's an imperfect method. A lot of the kids that were McDonald's All-Americans coming out of high school were probably vastly overrated, and some criminally underrated. Scouts get these things wrong, a lot, as those numbers bare out. But holy God, if this isn't a testament to Calhoun's other-worldly ability to find and develop talent, I don't know what is. Schools like UNC and Duke are at a bit of a dis-advantage using this formula because of the sheer number of McDonald's All-Americans they attract (some of them are bound to fail simply due to playing time), but damn, Calhoun is lapping some of these schools three, four times. If you travel back to 1990, the numbers are even more overwhelming in favor of UConn, and we're not even considering the fact that once upon a time, before Boone and Armstrong and Marcus and Rip washed out, we had even more guys in the NBA.

I can't help but look at these numbers and think recruits need to be continually hammered over the head with them when they're visiting. If our marketing and recruiting gurus aren't creating pie charts and bar graphs to express just how lopsided these numbers are, they aren't doing their job. Nobody develops pros like UConn and you don't really need to look much further than this.

I wouldn't lump Rip with Armstrong, Boone and Marcus he had a very solid career a 3 time all-star and a huge part in the Pistons nearly winning back to back titles (thanks Robert Horry).

Yeah, my bad, should have worded that differently. Rip obviously had a great career - not a Hall of Famer, but the level right below IMO.

Ray is 38. That's like saying no way someone can finish a Marathon when he's on Mile 24.

Hope Ollie has a pamphlet containing this information!

To quote Mark Jackson "Father time is undefeated".

When Ray is done playing we get to look forward to his HOF speech in Springfield so thats something to look forward to.

Does Ray still live up here? If so he just could be coaching.

Personally I want him to retire as the great player he is and not become a 'has been' or a shell of the player he once was. So please Ray maybe 2 more years and leave as a Legend who could 'easily' have done more.
