As much as I despise the lack of RB's rotating, I am happy to see how well McCombs has improved his pass blocking.

Last year he was abysmal at finding and making contact on passing plays. This year he has improved to being well above average. The kid is physically small but hasn't had any problem squaring up LB's and DB's on blitzes.

Our RB rotation is right out of the 1950s.

Not really.

Lots of teams in the 50's ran the wishbone.

GDL's head would have exploded if he would have been directed to run a wishbone play to honor Darrell Royal.

He would have had to allow three different RB's on the field at the same time.

He started out poorly in pass pro last year, but really improved as the year went on.

The wishbone was a 60's offense. Darrell Royal was the first college coach to use the wishbone formation in 1968, and he popularized it by using the three-running back option offense to win two national championships.

1968 would be leaping into the future for our staff.

Single wing, baby!

Gotta feeling were gonna see some shuck and jive the last 2 games Williams & Delorenzo in the mix.

I guess I don't quite get why you want to see other guys get more carries after McCombs just went over 120 yards rushing...If he's not making plays, sure, try someone else, but when he is, why change?

Because it's Pitt. Thats why. 120 yards is a good day, but we used to get that every game from someone. Lets be realistic.

We definitely need a big power runner to complement McCombs.

This. If Louisville plays the run like they did against 'Cuse, McCombs can get 150-200 yards.

He has no power and goes down on 1st contact. Getting 120 yards in 29 carries for 4.1 ypc with long of 39 is good in 2012 Uconn football world, other teams would get some serious looks for the second and third guy. Against Temple Delorenzo goes 23 for 91 for 4.0 ypc with long of 20 and gets no burn after that?
So 4.1 ypc gets you "wow he's back" and 4.0 ypc gets you "back to the bench".

Thank you.

Lyle won't be running over people like the Syracuse runners were against Louisville, and us.
